In the 55th issue of SwissClassics Revue, the cover story features Beutler's Volkswagen, which may not have been as cheap as a Beetle, but was much more elegant and much rarer. In addition, the highlights of the spring of the fair are highlighted and the British Austin Healey 3000 is looked at under its sleek dress in the buyer's guide. A visit to the museum of Walter and Emil Frey allows visitors to experience how the two pioneers motorized Switzerland from 1933 onwards. The new "Automotive milestones" section in issue 55-3/2016 is dedicated to the Jaguar E-Type and Morgan 4-4 sports cars.
Beetle in a sports car coat
Of course, the Beutler coupé from Thun was not as cheap as a Beetle. But it was much more elegant and much rarer. A reunion with a masterful design.
From Paris to Essen, from Stuttgart to Fribourg: the trade fair season has once again delighted hundreds of thousands of classic car fans. SwissClassics Revue shows the best pictures and impressions from the year of superlatives: more space, more visitors, more cars, more added value. But is more really always better?
A life for the car
Emil Frey began to motorize the Swiss as early as 1933. First with motorcycles, then with sidecars, finally with bicycles and, of course, with automobiles. It's hard to imagine how we would be motorized today without the Frey dynasty. Since 2015, the Emil Frey Classic Center has been showcasing the Freys' milestones in the form of automobiles and other memorabilia, allowing visitors to experience a piece of history.
The "Big Healey" in the buyer's guide
Hearty, open, robust, great sound: there are many good arguments in favor of the Austin Healey 3000. The Brit has enjoyed great popularity for decades and has been very popular with roadster fans for years. Nor does it lack character. With all these qualities, does the Brit have any weak points? SwissClassics Revue takes a look under its sleek dress.
Automotive milestones
When Jaguar unveiled the E-Type at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1961, it was quite simply a sensation. The Jaguar brand had created a design masterpiece, as even Enzo Ferrari admitted. And the technology helped the sports car achieve almost unrivaled performance.
There is probably only one car that has been produced and sold in almost unchanged form since the 1930s: the Morgan 4-4. Around 20,000 of these cars have been built over the last 80 years and you can still order them today, and people on the road certainly classify the new car as a classic.
There are also the popular market prices of over 2000 classic cars in Swiss francs and over 170 cars advertised in the vehicle market.
