You can find out the latest from the world of classic cars and youngtimers in the January issue of Motor Klassik, which is now back on newsstands. In addition to the fascinating supercars Porsche 911 Turbo, Aston Martin Vantage and Ferrari BB, the current issue reports on the Opel Manta B, the Hansa 1800, the De Tomaso Deauville and much more.
We true heroes
In their day, they were among the fastest cars in the world. Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Ferrari 512 BBi and Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3 - dream cars that still exude pure fascination today.
It looks good, its technology is reliable and the supply of spare parts is guaranteed. The Opel Manta B is one of those cars that are also interesting for newcomers.
Loc fabric
In 1916, the Locomobile M 48 was one of America's noblest cars: while a Ford cost 400 dollars at the time, the M 48 cost 10,000. Motor Klassik was delighted to accept the invitation to take a test drive - a car like a beast is always a pleasure.
When you hear De Tomaso, you think of the mid-engined Mangusta and Pantera sports cars. But there was also a 300 hp saloon and a coupé: Deauville and Longchamp - two exclusive Italians with a beefy US V8.
Glass box
Like Borgward, Glas caused technical embarrassment for the major car manufacturers. The creative restlessness of the creative Lower Bavarians culminated in the grandiose Glas V8. The idea of the sporty 1304 CL compact station wagon lived on in the 1971 BMW Touring 1600.
The Mille Miglia California celebrated its 25th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Motor Klassik embarked on a journey in a '57 Porsche Speedster along the American dream route: over 1000 miles from San Francisco in the south to Ferndale in the north and back.
From a dazzler to a piece of jewelry
It is often memories that lead to the purchase of a classic car. This was also the case for Alfred Betsche, but the purchase of his Borgward Hansa from a classic car dealer was a flop. The dealer no longer exists; the Hansa was revived after a makeover.
Shortly before the Köhl-Ahrweiler Rally, record winner Georg Berlandy changed his car and will be competing in an Opel Ascona 400 with over 300 hp. Will his hunters have a better chance with the Blitz swap?
They are unmistakably children of the early 80s: the Alfa Romeo GTV 6 and Porsche 944 are all about sportiness and design. But the coveted coupé icons have even more in common.
