The June issue of Auto Bild klassik is here, with lots of new topics such as an interesting selection of the coolest campers, four of the most diverse convertibles for the perfect start to spring, the most ingenious and elegant Lancias from 110 years and much more.
Sun at last!
Winter is over. Auto Bild klassik presents the most beautiful convertibles with the Morgan Threewheeler, Porsche 911 Cabriolet, Mercedes-Benz 229 Web Cabriolet, Mitsubishi Pajero Canvas Top and BMW 325i Cabriolet - whether for a cruise, boulevard or mountain route.
The third Bulli generation is versatile and adaptable. And while the T1 and T2 will soon be confined to collections, it continues to prove its worth in everyday life and on vacation. There are plenty of T3 campers - the VW T3 Westfalia Joker, the Multivan Redstar, the Dealer 2+2, the Atlantic Syncro, the Karmann Gipsy, the Bisher Doka and the Reimo high roof - but which one is the best?
Images in his head
Rethinking has never been a phrase for him. Michael Conrad used to design the world's first modern van and exciting sports cars, today he swears by drive diversity and designs bicycles.
In the 1960s, a university in Ulm reinvented many everyday objects - including the car. Their sports car with a plastic body in sandwich construction will soon be 50. Auto Bild klassik meets the then 25-year-old designer Detlef Unger.
La Grandezza di Lancia
Pioneering technical achievements, breathtaking design: Lancia is one of the most exciting car brands in the world. With the Lancia Fulvia Coupé HF Rallye, the Thesis, the Flaminia Berlins, the Flavia Cabrio, the Aprillia Barchetta Mille Miglia, the Delta Integrale Rallye, the Thema 8.32, the Stratos HF Rallye, the Y10 and the Aurelia Cabrio, Autobild klassik presents ten legendary Lancia cars from six decades.
Classic car fans have kissed Renault awake: In the classic car segment, the brand is establishing itself as a Citroën alternative. Prices are rising for many models.
All about classic car tires
All classic cars have one thing in common. Whether veteran from the brass era or 80s youngtimer, whether sporty or comfortable, cheap or expensive, right or left-hand drive: they all roll on tires. And they not only contain air, but also a long history of development.
At the end of the 1930s, General Motors built an exhibition of the future on wheels. The dozen Art Deco trucks criss-crossed the USA. One of them stands in Berlin today - the GM Futliner.
Who restores something like this?
Restoring a camper van? Pretty conventional. Stephan Met preferred the model with a working platform, the VW T2 Ruthmann Steiger V80, which he could drive up to a height of eight meters. And the Diema DS12S light rail locomotive, the Büssig VI GLn bus, the Stavostroj tire dozer, the GAZ 66 R142 radio station and the ME VT 103 railcar were also restored. But why are people saving lift trucks, mountain railroads or a bulldozer that was supposed to be used to clean up after the nuclear war?
