From May 10 to 12, 2019, the small German town of Friedrichshafen will be busier than usual. The reason for this is likely to be the 12th edition of Motorworld Classics Bodensee, which will take place at the local exhibition center.
Trade fair boss Klaus Wellmann emphasizes that no other trade fair of its kind in Germany offers classic car fans a more perfect mix of mobility from the good old days. Many people already refer to the trade fair on Lake Constance as the German Goodwood, says project manager Roland Bosch.
The concept of the trade fair deliberately focuses on individuality. In keeping with the vehicles on display, the hustle and bustle of modernity should be kept out of the picture. "The trade fair deliberately shifts down a few gears," says Bosch. The objects on display so far seem to prove him right. Whether on land, on water or in the air, the twelve halls of the trade fair are filled with cars, motorcycles, boats and airplanes from all eras.
From vehicles of the "Belle Epoque", to "bread and butter" small cars of the post-war period, to exclusive sports cars of the sixties and examples that have only recently matured into youngtimers, everything is there. Some celebrities from the scene will also be on display. For example, Muhammad Ali's former Rolls-Royce has already been announced. Many smaller events within the trade fair, such as the basic trade fair course, provide additional spice. Here, sinfully expensive sports cars can be admired for the first time in May. Racing enthusiasts can now enjoy racing cars from the pre-war years as well as newer, more powerful cars.
In addition, there will be an airshow to admire every day - it will be exciting to see. Of course, the classic car trade will also play an important role. As in 2018, numerous specialist dealers will once again be on site to sell their vehicles. Of course, in addition to more expensive models, there will also be classic and vintage cars for sale on a budget. If you don't want to maintain and restore your car yourself, you can of course make use of the restoration companies present.
In total, over 800 dealers, restorers, clubs and parts market providers will be present at the trade fair. Around 40,000 visitors are expected during the three days of the fair. Those who value authentic styling will certainly be in good hands with the British vehicles arranged around a Mini Big Ben.
Vintage and sports car racing highlight
What must be clearly emphasized is the fact that this trade fair is characterized by something very special that is not normally offered by any other trade fair: Motorsport! In Hall A6 you will find a real paddock with historic racing cars of all kinds, the teams are there, talking to each other or with interested visitors, or even tinkering with the vehicle.
If you then go outside from the paddock hall, you will find yourself right next to the in-house race track. Professionally secured and coordinated by marshals, great motorsport is on offer here all day long. Lunch tastes particularly good on a grandstand for the spectators.
Special show of British vehicles
Of course, you can also visit the special show "British Classic Cars & Bikes" (BCC&B), which will also take place on the exhibition grounds and will pay appropriate tribute to British vehicles.
Another special aspect of Motorworld Classics at Lake Constance is the Classic Car Parkarena. Here, visitors can park and admire their gems in the middle of the exhibition grounds. A nostalgia campsite even offers the opportunity to spend the night in a vintage camper under the open sky.
Special offer for Swiss visitors
There is a special promotion for Swiss visitors in 2019: a special ticket allows entry for just CHF 10.00 on Friday, May 10, 2019.
And who invented it? No, this time it wasn't the Swiss. It's the trade fair organizers in Friedrichshafen. Instead of the regular ticket price of 18 euros, the Swiss will only pay around 9 euros, depending on the current exchange rate.
For Saturday or Sunday, however, the normal admission price will apply again.
Reduced day tickets are also available for schoolchildren, students, pensioners, people with disabilities and groups of 20 people or more. The detailed ticket prices can be viewed here.
