For the twelfth time, the waltz city of Vienna became a motor city. But not without the sound of a waltz! The Vienna Classic Days 2014 opened on Saturday with an atmospheric waltz show in the middle of Vienna in front of City Hall - now one of the most popular international classic car events!
Impressive starting field
The starting field was impressive, spectacular and sensational: more than 100 years of automotive history with participants from 8 countries presenting 280 vehicles. This rolling, atmospheric automobile museum was not just in Vienna's city center, but was unlike anything you can experience anywhere else! More than 25,000 horsepower rolled through the city!
The oldest vehicles were from 1905, 1906 and 1907, i.e. from a time when the automobile was just learning to really "run". Pure enthusiasm among the audience for the "old Schnauferln", for well-known brands, but also for models and brands that are no longer known today! Each of the spectators had their own favorite and could also vote for it at the Concours de Charme.
Good atmosphere despite the rain
The "chrome jewels" in front of Vienna's magnificent buildings thrilled around 30,000 spectators. One of the best experiences was the parade on the closed Vienna Ringstrasse! The entire city turned its attention to the imperial boulevard and the joy and enthusiasm of nostalgia and memories! The guests' enthusiasm, joy and applause were also sensational! The participants were also happy and beaming, so even the heavy rain couldn't dampen the mood. You only experience something like this in Vienna!
Presentation of the classic gems in front of the parliament
The vehicles were presented on the ramp of the Parliament, while roses were also laid in memory of Barbara Prammer. The hospitality in the Technical Museum, at the Donautum and in the Donaupark, in the ENI VIP Lounge and in "the mall" added to the wonderful atmosphere!
Vienna City Hall as a nostalgia mile
With the City Hall as a paddock and pit lane, motor show, vehicle presentation and "nostalgia mile", the Vienna Classic Days also provided the atmospheric setting for one of the most beautiful classic car experiences in Europe! Of course there were overall winners, era and class winners, many honorary prizes and gifts!
