The registration period for the Steckborn Memorial Hill Climb from September 22 to 23, 2018 will open on May 1, 2018 via the ACS website www.go4race.ch. OC President Kurt Krucker is expecting a great deal of interest in the event, which is being planned in this form for the fourth time. After three well-attended memorials in 2007, 2010 and 2015, another mountain race without timekeeping is now on the agenda.
Vintage cars and motorcycles provide a thrilling racing atmosphere as well as fascinating insights into the history of automotive technology. "For me, the Memorial Hill Climb in Steckborn is the Monaco of the classic car scene!" said former Le Mans winner Jockel Winkelhock after thundering up the hill four times in the Irmscher Manta A to the delight of the crowd in 2015.
Over 250 historic vehicles (cars and motorcycles) are expected to start in the "Memorial Performance" and "Corso" categories. On both days of the event, there will be several heats for cars and motorcycles in each category: In the "Memorial Performance" category, drivers will demonstrate the performance of their classic cars and motorcycles. Individual sporting performances are expected in these demonstration drives. The Memorial Corso is a vehicle presentation or parade at a moderate speed.
Cars built in 1986 or earlier and motorcycles built in 1975 or earlier are permitted.
The safety arrangements are guaranteed by ACS Thurgau - as with racing - and are of course also available to the "Corso" category. With parking spaces throughout the town, visitors will once again be able to get up close and personal with historic vehicles and their owners.
Further information on the event can be found on the website.
