Despite the Covid pandemic, the organizers not only managed to put together something familiar once again, but also to come up with innovations beyond all expectations: from prizes created especially for the event and in limited editions, to a first-class jury made up of names from the international classic car scene, to a program that promises to inspire professional drivers as well as spectators and companions.
Good news
It will be an edition full of firsts: from the prizes to the program. The winner of the Città di Lugano Concorso d'Eleganza will receive two particularly exclusive prizes: as a sponsorship prize, the Rallymaster Hamilton Black Chronograph no. 5 of 88, produced in limited series by The Lonville Watch Company - a high-end watchmaking company based in Lugano; the trophy for the competition prize was specially created by Marco Pagot - the man who designed the famous signs. the man who designed the famous cartoon characters Calimero Black Chick and Dragon Grisù and produced the trophy in collaboration with the Palo Alto Group's LAB3D with its sophisticated printers.
In addition, all participants have the opportunity to use "The Motor Chain" platform free of charge. "The best documented car in the show" will win a prize donated by "The Motor Chain".
As for the program, this year the opening of the event will take place on Friday evening, April 29, directly in the pedestrian area of the city, on Via Nassa, in the form of the vernissage (by invitation) designed and organized by Imago Art Gallery especially for the occasion.
On Saturday, the atmosphere in the heart of Lugano promises to be unforgettable: Lugano Elegance will be staged in conjunction with the first and only "Warm Up" of the Mille Miglia in Switzerland. The focus of the events will not only be the pedestrian area and the lakeside of Lugano, but also the lake itself with a magnificent selection of vintage boats.
This edition will also see the introduction of a new event: On Saturday, April 30, the first charity dinner will take place, where the winning cars of the categories and the overall winner will be awarded, as well as the mini-auction of automobilia, valuable objects and art organized by Bonhams.

The history of Lions in Classic
Lions in Classic was born in 2013 on the initiative of the Lions Club Monteceneri and under the motto "We do good and have fun", created by Claudio Mosconi, as a regularity rally of classic cars. The main motivation: to combine a passion for beautiful cars with the desire to help others in a tangible way. The registration fee for the rally goes to charity. For this reason, each participant receives a donation receipt for the total amount of the payment made.
In 2019, the meeting reached a turning point with the birth of Lugano Elegance. The Concours d'Elegance of the City of Lugano brings with it a presence that is as local as it is international: What used to be a gathering in a parking lot to start the regularity rally will become a stand-alone event in 2019, promising more public presence while supporting the businesses in the city center, Via Nassa and therefore the city of Lugano - hence the decision to hold the Concours d'Elégance on Saturday.
Special features
While classic cars are often associated with a concept of luxury and exclusivity, this event aims to create an inclusive experience. For example, a regularity rally with games of skill has been created, involving not only passionate drivers but also their families. In collaboration with Telethon, it also offers children the opportunity to experience the emotions of the track on board a classic car. But even those who are not taking part in the event can exhibit their jewel: Owners who wish to visit Lugano Elegance and arrive aboard their classic car will have the opportunity to display their car in Piazza Luini, subject to availability.
