Everything is ready for the 44th edition of the 1000 Miglia, the famous regularity rally for historic vehicles. The event will take place from June 9 to 13 on the classic Brescia-Rome-Brescia route. Maserati will be represented with one of the most representative vehicles in its racing history: the Maserati A6 GCS/53 from 1953.
The vehicle is closely linked to the history of the original 1000 Miglia, which was run as a race between 1927 and 1957. It is technically maintained by Maserati Classiche and driven by its owner Igor Zanisi - a profound connoisseur and passionate guardian of the Maserati heritage. He will be accompanied by his daughter Lara. Her presence is also a tribute to Maria Teresa de Filippis (1926-2016) on her 100th birthday. De Filippis, once a close friend of Igor Zanisi and a key figure in the history of Maserati, was the first woman to qualify for and take part in a Formula 1 Grand Prix: in 1958, she sat behind the wheel of a Maserati 250F at the Belgian Grand Prix.
The Maserati A6 GCS/53 participating in the event took part in five consecutive editions of the original race from 1953 to 1957. It is most likely the Maserati with the most participations in this competition. Also known as the "Sport 2000", the model can look back on one of the longest racing careers of its era and was driven by numerous high-caliber drivers. The A6 GCS/53 is not only a stylistic masterpiece to marvel at, but also a genuine racing car.
Maserati will also be using four models from its current portfolio as support vehicles at the 1000 Miglia. These vehicles will be presented in four exclusive liveries, each inspired by an iconic model from Maserati's history: Tipo 26, A6 1500, 250F and 3500 GT. Four expressive interpretations that pay tribute to the brand's stylistic and technical heritage and transform the current model range into a tribute to the history of the Trident.
The historic new edition of the race, which Enzo Ferrari once described as "the most beautiful race in the world", will this year bring together more than 400 automotive treasures from 29 countries to tackle the approximately 1,900-kilometer route. On their way from Brescia to Rome and back, the teams will pass through impressive landscapes, historic towns and spectacular mountain passes. Of particular significance is the passage through Modena on June 10, where Maserati's headquarters are located. This year's participation in the 1000 Miglia marks another milestone in the centenary celebrations of the iconic Dreizck logo and Maserati's first race win.
