44 years after the first R5 Cup race in 1974, there will be a new R5 Cup. The Histo Cup R5 Cup will have its own class as part of the "Battle of the Dwarves". It will be held for Renault 5 Alpine with naturally aspirated engines as Group 1 & 2 cars.
Renault 5 Cup revived
The French small car of the 70s has written motorsport history. Numerous racing drivers started their careers in the R5 Cup, with Volker Strycek, Harald Grohs, Christian Danner, Markus Oestreich and Wolfgang Schütz just to name a few.
The Histo Cup R5 trophy should and will be an enrichment of the "Battle of the Dwarves", because the Renault 5 fits in very well with the previous participants with their small cars from the 60s and 70s. The series community of the "Battle of the Dwarves" is also more than well positioned in other respects. With 66 registered participants, the dwarf community should once again be Germany's largest sprint series this year.

The 2018 season can begin
After the traditional presentation at two different trade fairs at the beginning of the year, the long winter break has finally come to an end. The participants now have the opportunity to test their vehicles after the long winter break at the test and set-up runs in the Racepark Meppen.
At the end of April 2018, the first championship races will take place in Hockenheim. The first points will be contested and driven in the "Prize of the City of Stuttgart".
