For the second time, the Peter Auto season starts at the Jarama race track. The Jarama Classic will take place there from March 31 to April 2.
The racetrack near Madrid was inaugurated in 1967; before that, there were only temporary racetracks in Spain that were built for individual races. The long-awaited circuit was built in the 1960s.
Between 1968 and 1981, Jarama hosted nine Spanish Grand Prix races, which were won by legends such as Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda and James Hunt. In the 1990s, the circuit, which consists largely of tight bends and corners, was upgraded.
Six grids from Peter Auto and some guests will start at the Jarama Classic. The six Peter Auto categories include GT cars from 1966 to 1974, GT cars from 1975 to 1979, touring cars from 1966 to 1984, sports cars before 1963 and GT cars before 1966, Italian sports and GT cars before 1966 and finally prototypes from 1982 to 1993.
This year also sees the start of the Trophée Légende, which features Grand Prix and sports cars from the pre-war era, and the Iberian Historic Endurance with GT and touring cars from 1965 to 1976.
