The task was not easy. The organizers of the Arosa ClassicCar Hill Climb had to select 158 final participants from 170 registrations. The aim was, of course, to select the most attractive selection of vehicles and thus the most diverse cars possible to captivate the audience.
Last year's overall winner Roger Moser in his 1983 Martini Mk2B BMW Formula 2, as well as Thomas Amweg in his 1978 Ralt RT1, are among those competing in the "Compeitition" category, which is all about best time.
Marcel Hayoz and Markus Jörg will be racing up the mountain in the Lotus racing sports cars of types 23 and 11 Le Mans. The famously fast Sue Darbyshire will be bringing her 1928 Morgan Super Aera Threewheeler from England, as she has done in the past. And Urs Beck will be driving one of the rare Porsche 911 STs. 27 participants are registered in this fast category, so there will be plenty of excitement.
The largest field comprises the 60 vehicles of the "Classic Trophy". They drive on a regular basis and because of the number, the field had to be split into two parts. Here you will find many classic sports cars such as a Lancia Stratos HF, a Dino 246 GTS or a Ferrari 365 GTC, but also touring cars such as an Alfa Romeo Giulia TI Super or an Opel Kadett C GTE.
The "Alpine Performance" field comprises 29 vehicles. This is a really sporty field, with vehicles such as a BRM P180-02 from 1972, a Porsche 911 IROC from 1937 and a De Tomaso Pantera from Group 4 on display.
32 participants have registered for the "Sport Trophy". Here, too, there are fast sports cars to track, such as a Lancia 037 Rally from 1982, two AC Cobra 427s or a brute Ford Falcon.
Finally, in the "Demo" field, you can admire some special formula and racing cars on a fast hill climb.
Many interesting vehicles are waiting to prove themselves on September 2-4 in a total of six hill climbs over the 7.3-kilometre-long uphill and downhill route from Langwies to Arosa. There will also be a corso through Arosa on September 1 in the evening. Now the weather just has to be right!
