Between 1967 and 1970, the Kerenzerberg race was one of the most beautiful racing events far and wide. Both Swiss and internationally renowned racing drivers took the opportunity to take part in the mountain race from Mollis to Filzbach on the Kerenzerberg. Among them were Silvio Moser, Peter Sauber, Walter Brun, Xavier Perrot and Karl Foitek.
First revival in 2015
A revival was launched in May 2015, followed by the second new edition in 2018.
In its last meeting, the organizing committee of the Kerenzerberg Race has now given its definitive okay to hold the race again.
No timekeeping
The race will be held as a demonstration event without timekeeping for racing cars from the pre-war period and historic racing cars built up to 1988. The start will be at the Waid restaurant in Mollis on June 1 to 3, 2018, just like back then. Over a distance of 3.17 km with 4 hairpin bends and fast sections with sweeping bends, the race route then leads to the hamlet of Fohrenwald. The racing cars then continue to Bremboden, Filzbach.
Peter Sauber, who also competed in the race during his active career, will be among the drivers in 2018.
