The UK is the center of an online-only auction by Gooding & Co. 14 cars with an average age of 72 years are on offer. On average, each car is expected to cost £ 416,000 (EUR 482,500, CHF 532,500), but the spectrum ranges from £ 14,000 to £ 2.2 million. The cars can be viewed and collected in England.
The late Ford GT40
The auction's flagship is undoubtedly the Ford GT40 with chassis number P/1085, the last chassis built at the factory, which had to wait until 2009 before it was completed and could then take part in the 2009 Tour Auto, among other events.
The mid-engined sports car with UK V5C, which presents itself in very good condition, is now said to be worth £ 1.8 to 2.2 million. Whether the bidders see it the same way will be known on June 18, 2021 at the latest.
Super classic
The GT40 is one of around half a dozen super classics that Gooding is putting under the virtual hammer.
For example, a Lamborghini Miura P400S from 1968 (£ 800,000 to 1 million), a Dino 206 GT from 1968 (£ 450,000 to 550,000) or a Masdrati 3500 GT from 1960.
Predominantly older pre-war cars
Two pre-war Lancia cars are part of Gooding's range.
There is a Lambda from 1928, which is looking for a new owner for £ 140,000 to £ 160,000. The second is a four-door convertible Astura from 1938, estimated at £375,000 to £450,000.
They are joined by three very early cars from lesser-known manufacturers, namely a Paterson, a Briton and a CGV, all of which are expected to find a new garage in the price range between £ 14,000 and £ 65,000.
Two racing cars
The offer is complemented by two racing cars of very different colors. The 1957 Lotus Eleven on offer was created for club racing. The car is interesting from a Swiss perspective because it was exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show in 1958 and was also (according to Gooding) the subject of a brief driving report in Automobil Revue.
Now it is expected to fetch £125,000 to £175,000 for a flat sports car.
The Porsche 962 C is a veritable Group C car, which once competed as a customer sports car by Jesus Pareja and Walter Brun in the World Prototype Championship, but was not successful.
The car was then retired, so that it still stands today in its original condition (almost as if from a time machine). The car is said to be worth between £800,000 and £1.2 million to its new owner.
