On September 12, 2013, the highly acclaimed Baiersbronn Classic starts with the 90-kilometre prologue in Baiersbronn.
There will be around 80 cars at the start, covering a wide range of classic cars from 1923 to 1974. Mercedes Benz 300 SL or Jaguar E-Type can be found as well as the rare Intermeccanica Indra convertible or the rare BMW 503 Cabriolet. Around a quarter of the vehicles are from the period before the Second World War.
On Friday, 13 September 2013, the participants will take on the Ortenau circuit on the second day, which covers 23 kilometers through the Black Forest heights and Baden wine regions. On Saturday, the Black Forest circuit will allow participants to relive the Ruhestein mountain race of 1946 from the very first kilometer.
BMW 328 Touring Coupé at the start
The winning car of the Ruhestein mountain race in 1946, the BMW 328 Touring from 1939, will be at the start of the Baiersbronn Classic 2013 with starting number 1. Leopold Prince of Bavaria will be at the wheel, with Paul Rosche, the BMW engine pope, sitting next to him. He will probably no longer average 96.9 km/h as Hermann Lang once did in 1946, but the prospect of seeing the elegant coupé once again should make a visit to Baiersbronn worthwhile.
