Legendentreff.ch was the brainchild of father and son Schöni, both motorsport enthusiasts. Like his son Marc, Dieter Schöni has been infected with the motorsport bug since a young age.
In an era when driving sports prototypes or Formula 1 cars was like riding a cannonball, history was written in a way that only motorsport can tell. Stories about victories and defeats, friendships and rivalries, as well as the constant search for fractions of a second through technical progress.
But these stories are in danger of falling silent prematurely when their narrators are struck down by dementia and Alzheimer's disease. For this reason, all proceeds from future Legends Meetings will be donated to the Synapsis Foundation, which is dedicated to research into these diseases.
Premiere with Jürgen Barth
Jürgen Barth (10.12.1947), son of Edgar Barth, who are both very successful former German racing drivers, will premiere on March 5, 2022.
Jürgen was one of the world's best sports car drivers in the 70s and 80s. He celebrated his greatest successes in endurance races, including winning the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans together with Jacky Ickx and Hurley Haywood in the works Porsche 936/77 in 1977 and the 1000 km race at the Nürburgring three years later in the 908/3 with Rolf Stommelen.
Barth contested his first race in 1969 at the Hockenheimring, where he finished sixth in a national GT race. He celebrated his first victory just three years later in Diepholz.
Together with the two Frenchmen Stéphane Ratel and Patrick Peter, Barth founded the BPR racing series (BPR stands for Barth, Peter, Ratel) for GT and Grand Tourismo racing cars in 1994, from which the FIA GT Championship emerged in 1997. Since 2007, Barth has been organizing the GT Masters together with the ADAC, a racing series for sports cars that is held in accordance with the FIA GT3 regulations.
