Andreas Kernke is a VW K70 enthusiast. He himself drives two of these now quite rare vehicles, and soon there will be three. His first experience with the 70 was 40 years ago, when he learned to drive from his father.
And he has owned such vehicles himself for almost as long, initially old rust buckets that were deregistered and parked in barns, with which you could drive on country lanes and through forests, later registered with a red license plate and today registered with an 07 license plate.
Active club member
Kernke has been an active member of the 1st International K 70 Club e.V. for over 25 years and has been responsible for the club website on a voluntary basis for almost 20 years. He has also been responsible for the club magazine "K 70-POST" for 10 years.
During this long time, he has accumulated many photographs and illustrations of the K 70 ... and the number is constantly growing.
As an internet developer and web designer, Kemke had been working with Adobe Photoshop for a long time, and so a production by Otto Walkes, in which the comedian provided a special interpretation of the famous "Abbey Road" record cover, gave him the idea of using works of art as the basis for the integration of the VW K70. He spent hours sifting through famous paintings - always with the thought that a K70 would ultimately have to fit into the scenery.
A special annual calendar
In this way, 26 newly interpreted works of art were created. Twelve of them can now be seen in the new annual calendar "Art & K70" for 2022.
The various creations emerged in a kind of creative frenzy, Kernke almost couldn't stop.
The K70 fan now uses the surplus pictures (not used in the calendars) for the club magazine "K 70-POST" - e.g. the recently published issue features "K 70 on the moon" on the cover and an old advertising poster for Tuborg beer on the back - decorated with a K 70, of course.
The calendar can also be purchased by non-club members! It can be ordered directly here.
