After a period of renovation, the "EFA Mobile Zeiten" museum reopened its doors to automobile enthusiasts from all over the world. Although some things have changed as a result of the renovation, the museum has not lost its original character.
Reopened after extensive renovation
Amerang is a small community in Chiemgau, which is home to an impressive collection of automotive milestones from the Federal Republic of Germany: EFA Mobile Zeiten.
A chronology of German classic cars of all makes has been on display here since 1990 - initiated by entrepreneur and collector Ernst Freiberger senior, honorary citizen of Amerang.
After extensive renovations, the exhibition reopened its doors in March 2019 in newly designed and multimedia rooms. An audio guide system and installed screens provide visitors with interesting background information about the vehicles and the respective era.
Vehicles shaped entire eras
The vehicles on display at the EFA Mobile Zeiten are all icons and have shaped entire eras. Visitors can expect a fascinating journey through more than 130 years of German automotive history - from the first motorized carriage to the grandiose creations of the 1920s and 1930s, the legendary small cars of the 1950s and the sports car classics of the present day.
The world's largest model railroad
Another highlight of the EFA Mobile Zeiten is the world's largest mass-produced model railroad in gauge II, with around 650 meters of track over an area of 500 square meters in a lovingly designed model landscape. And after the visit, the gastronomic offerings on site are tempting. For example, the sophisticated and uncomplicated cuisine in the Ameranger Hofstub'n, where fresh produce from the neighboring organic farm is processed directly.
A visit is worthwhile for fans of automobiles from all eras as well as for fans of excellent cuisine.
