The exhibition is called "Motion. Cars, Art, Architecture" and can be seen at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao in the north of Spain from April 8, 2022 until September 18, 2022.
Curated by Norman Foster with the support of Lekha Hileman Waitoller and Manuel Cirauqui from the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
The artistic dimension of the automobile is to be demonstrated by linking paintings, sculptures, architecture, photographs and films. The exhibition explores the dimensions of these individual disciplines and shows how they are connected.
Almost 40 automobiles, including some of the most expensive and exclusive in the world, are on display. Whether Ferrari 250 GTO, Pegaso or Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, they are all there and show what was technically and aesthetically feasible at the time, offering a glimpse into the future.
Around these cars, important works of art and architecture can be seen. Some of these exhibits are on public display for the first time.
The description of the exhibition states:
"Like no other invention, the automobile has completely transformed the urban and rural landscape of our planet, and with it, our lifestyles. We are on the cusp of a new revolution with the electrification of the car, so this exhibition could also be seen as a requiem for the last days of the internal combustion engine."
It is certainly an exhibition worth seeing, although of course Bilbao is not exactly on the way.
