The Swiss Historic Vehicle Federation (SHVF) is launching the "Historic Vehicle Days" on April 27 and 28, 2019. The aim is to showcase as many historic cars, motorcycles, commercial vehicles and agricultural tractors as possible on the roads. Well over 3000 veteran vehicles, vintage and classic cars will be presented as mobile cultural assets.
Well-maintained veteran vehicles as popular vehicles
The differences between an "old Charen" and a veteran vehicle are obvious. Veteran or collector's vehicles are no longer in daily use, are lovingly cared for by their owners and are usually driven out in dry weather. Only vehicles older than 30 years and in a good and respectable condition are granted official veteran status. An inspection is then only carried out every six years; on the other hand, only between 2,000 and 3,000 km / year may be driven. This is what the regulations want.
The public always has a lot of sympathy for veteran vehicles. The sight of old vehicles triggers joy and applause, especially when they are being driven. On the last weekend in April, many of them are likely to be on the road, be it to one of the many regional meetings or simply for a drive away from the main traffic flows.
In view of the dwindling number of veteran vehicles in the overall vehicle population and the modest mileage, the environmental impact is negligible. The focus is on the preservation of mobile cultural assets, which are lovingly cared for by their owners and usually preserved for posterity at great expense.

Interested visitors are invited to talk to the drivers of the old vehicles and learn lots of interesting facts about them. The focus is on the shared enjoyment of historic technology.
