The fall auction at the Oldtimer Galerie in Toffen has been very popular for years. It deliberately sets itself apart from other auctions by offering a wide range of vehicles and also affordable cars/motorcycles. The event on October 15, 2022 is no exception.
The proportion of motorcycles and two-wheelers is relatively high, comprising 26 of the 100 vehicles and peppered with exciting rarities.
76 automobiles represent the four-wheelers and cover nine decades of vehicle construction.
On average, the 100 two- and four-wheelers are almost 50 years old. Together they were estimated at CHF 2.7 million, which means that each vehicle is expected to fetch around CHF 27,000. 48 percent of the vehicles will go under the hammer without a reserve price. Bargains are therefore possible.
BMW, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz at the top
38 car brands will be represented in Toffen on October 15, 2022. There will also be 11 motorcycle brands.
12 BMWs, eight Jaguars and seven Mercedes-Benzes are at the top of the brand hit parade, although BMWs include nine motorcycles, while Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz only offer cars, of course. All other brands are represented by no more than a handful of vehicles, some such as Autobianchi, Alvis, Austin-Healey, Bentley, Humber or Pierce-Arrow with just one car each.
Luxury classics from the American pre-war era
In the 1930s, rich Americans had a good time. At least that's what you have to think when you look at the three luxurious cars that are going under the hammer in Toffen.
While the Packard Standard Eigh 733 Roadster from 193 and the Pierce-Arrow Model 54 Convertible Coupé from 1932 had to make do with an inline eight-cylinder engine, the Cadillac 452-B Town Coupe from 1932 even had a V16 engine.
The additional eight cylinders make the Cady the most expensive of the three rarities, but even here CHF 100,000 to 120,000 should be enough for a hammer price. All three cars come from a garage find, which was reported on in detail a few days ago.
Exotic cars from England
Many people have probably never seen a Healey Silverstone, which is also due to the fact that only just over 100 examples were built.
The chances of being able to bid on such a car, which was also restored a few years ago, are therefore actually low, but on October 15 they are a given. However, the budget should not be too small, as the estimated value is between CHF 140,000 and 180,000.
A hardly less rare Marcos 3 Litre is available at a much lower price. The yellow coupé with plastic bodywork and Ford Essex V6 engine as well as left-hand drive (rare) was estimated at CHF 45,000 to 50,000 and thanks to veteran MFK, nothing stands in the way of longer happiness here.
Some super classics
In addition to many exotic cars and bargains, there will of course also be super classics for sale in Toffen on October 15, 2022.
Whether you are interested in a Chevrolet Corvette C1 from 1960, the Jaguar XK150 (available as OTS and Coupé), the Mercedes-Benz 250 SL from 1967 (Pagoda), its successor the 350 SL from 1971 or the Porsche 911 SC 3.0 from 1983, they are all available in Toffen.
There is also a BMW 850i for sale, which has just become a classic car, and the Citroën DS19 from 1961 in its yellow and white paintwork would also be worth a sin.
Another popular classic is the VW Beetle, which is available in Toffen as a saloon and a 1303 Cabriolet.
The matching Volkswagen from France is also on offer, a Citroën 2 CV in the popular Charleston trim level from 1984. And instead of the Beetle, you could also buy a VW Golf Cabriolet from 1989.
Sporty cars for the not-too-large budget
Not everyone can afford large sums, but there are also interesting classics for less money.
We noticed a beautiful yellow Toyota Celica ST 1600 from 1973. Everything seems to be right with the early version from Swiss delivery, which certainly puts the CHF 15,000 to 18,000 into perspective.
You can get an even cheaper sports car with a 1996 Fiat Barchetta. CHF 9000 to 11,000 should be enough here.
And the Mercedes-Benz 200 SLK from 2002 is hardly more expensive, with a price tag of CHF 12,000 to 15,000.
You can also buy a Wankel at a reasonable price in Toffen. Up for grabs is a Mazda RX-7 from 1985, one of a series of 84 built by Marc Surer Carstyle. CHF 3500 to 4500 is enough, but you should probably still have some money on the side to pay for some maintenance work after a long period of ownership.
Some youngtimers
The range of youngtimers (cars from 1992-2002) is clear, but there is no lack of interesting offers.
The attractive Maserati Quattroporte V8 3.2 Evoluzione from 1999, drawn by Marcello Gandini, is a late example that is expected to find a new owner for CHF 28,000 to 32,000.
There is also a Mercedes-Benz SL 500 (R230) from 2002 up for auction, which is looking for a new owner for CHF 14,000 to 16,000 with no reserve price.
For sporty drivers who can't do without storage space, the MG ZT-T 190 from 2002 might be worth considering; it is also being advertised without a minimum price.
Even younger than these cars are a Porsche Boxster from 2006 and a Mercedes-Benz SLK 280 from 2007.
More information and many pictures of the individual vehicles can be found on the Oldtimer Galerie website or in the online catalog.
