The 20th Südsteiermark-Classic would have taken place in glorious weather from April 23 to 25, 2020. 160 teams from 10 nations would have lined up at the start in Gamlitz and fought for hundredths of a second over 2.5 days on closed routes and in regularity tests.
The crowning finale would have been - as it has been for years - the Chopard Welsch Grand Prix, where the band "Starkstrom" would have "stepped on the gas" on the main square in Gamlitz. At the opening round, a Škoda Barchetta from the museum in the Czech Republic, built in 1957, would have provided an automotive feast for the eyes.
Canceled due to Covid-19
The COVID-19 pandemic wanted it differently and so the organizers Ulli and Hasi Haselwander had to decide after careful consideration to postpone this anniversary event by one year to April 22-24, 2021. The approval of the participants is confirmation of this forward-looking planning.
Anniversary event on April 22 to 24, 2021
The fact that several teams contacted the organizers during the canceled date to express their longing for this unique event, both in terms of sport and cuisine, proves that the teams mentioned are looking forward to 2021.
Ulli and Hasi Haselwander are looking forward to 2021, when the anniversary event will take place in the same great atmosphere as in previous years.
