From October 23 to 26, 2025, BolognaFiere will host the 42nd edition of Auto e Moto d'Epoca. In the fourteen halls, visitors can explore the entire history of the automotive industry. We were particularly impressed by two exhibitions:
From Germany to Bologna: the "Loh Collection"
The National Automobile Museum - The Loh Collection will also be taking part in Auto e Moto d'Epoca 2025 with its own stand and will be showing two vehicles from the collection, which was inaugurated in Dietzhölztal-Ewersbach in July 2023.
One is a Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR, built as a racing version and gradually transformed into a road car thanks to a special permit. In order to homologate the car for GT1, 25 examples were built between 1998 and 1999: twenty coupés and five roadsters. The example on display is the prototype and was used as an official press vehicle and for development.
Secondly, a BMW M1 Procar, protagonist of one of the most spectacular racing series in the history of motorsport, in which identical vehicles allowed their drivers to duel under the same conditions. Niki Lauda won the first championship in 1979 with this M1 - chassis number 4301028 - and took three victories in the season. In 1980, the car passed to Hans-Joachim Stuck, who won in Monaco and finished third in the championship. Later, the M1 drove for Steve O'Rourke's "EMKA Racing Team" and took part in Le Mans - together with members of Pink Floyd.
"Antiche Meraviglie" brings pre-war vehicles to Bologna
At Auto e Moto d'Epoca 2025, "Antiche Meraviglie" will present a selection of classic vehicles that were all built before the outbreak of the Second World War. The exhibition will shed light on almost 40 years of automotive history from the beginning of the 20th century to 1939.
The following vehicles will be on display:
- Chenard et Walker T2
- Ford T
- Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Cabriolet
- Lancia Lambda 6 Series
The centerpiece of the exhibition will be the Fiat 1500, which is regarded as the pinnacle of vehicle development in Italy at the time and - due to its advanced solutions in technology and design - as a transition to the developments of the post-war period.
There are four versions of the Fiat 1500 on display:
- The standard sedan, designed by Mario Revelli de Beaumont
- The sporty Turolla, a one-off
- The four-seater Viotti convertible, a fascinating barn find
- The Stella Alpina by Monviso, coachbuilt by Giovanni Michelotti and designed for the post-war period
"Antiche Meraviglie" is an exhibition that tells the story of the technical and aesthetic development of the vehicles of the time, but also demonstrates the visionary ideas of the designers and constructors of the period.
