Anyone buying a classic car does not necessarily want to restrict themselves, but ideally wants to acquire a car that they can use in as many different ways as possible. Zwischengas wanted to know from its users which classic car best fulfills this requirement and launched a readers' poll that lasted eight weeks.
In six preliminary rounds, six candidates for overall victory were pre-selected from 36 classic cars, and in the final round, the winner was chosen from these six cars - Jaguar E-Type, Mercedes-Benz 230/250/280 SL (Pagoda), Porsche 911, Mercedes-Benz 280/350/450 SL (R107), BMW 2.8/3.0 CS/CSL, Volvo P1800 S/ES.
During the two-week final vote, the Jaguar E-Type came out on top with 22% of the votes, ahead of the BMW 2.8/3.0 CS/CSL (19.7%) and the Porsche 911 (19.4%), while the Volvo and the two Mercedes received significantly fewer votes.

As a reminder, the characteristics that make a "versatile" classic car should be mentioned here again:
On the one hand, the classic car should be able to be used in events such as regularity rallies, be able to take part in fun mountain races, be suitable for medium-length trips and vacation drives and also be able to handle a shopping trip into town once in a while. Of course, it should also be able to survive fun trips and joyrides undamaged. And participation in a (smaller) Concours d'Elégance should not be unrealistic either. After all, the price limit should remain in the five-digit range, the maintenance costs should be affordable and a certain level of availability is also a prerequisite.
Over 3000 readers took part in the poll and chose the Jaguar E-Type, which was built between 1961 and 1975, as the most versatile classic. The winner can also be enjoyed in a picture magic episode. And, of course, several articles have already been dedicated to it.
We would like to thank all participants for taking part. And Midland Oil for supporting the readers' choice.
