Following last year's success, the TCS and its partners have announced the date for the next edition of the historic racing festival in Lignières. From July 3 to 5, 2015, visitors can once again look forward to numerous highlights on and off the track.
Driver training center as a race track
The TCS driving training center in Lignières, with the only circuit in Switzerland, provided a worthy setting for the Racing Festival in 2013 and 2014 with its varied program, historic racing cars and plenty of racing history. Last year, around 9,000 spectators did not miss out on the spectacle on and off the race track.
Diverse program on and off the track
Visitors will not be disappointed this year either. In addition to the racing action with numerous historic cars, motos, sidecars and three-wheelers, the Swiss Classic Jumble, an open-air cinema and numerous other attractions will take place on the festival grounds. As a counterpoint to historic racing, history will once again be written at Lignières Historique 2015. The Swiss Energy Grand Prix will be the world's first 12-hour race for electric vehicles. The race will take place on Saturday night from 19:00 to 07:00.
What can drivers expect?
For the drivers, the racing weekend starts on Friday morning, when the administrative checks and car scrutineering take place at 10:00 am. The Lignières Historique 2015 will then officially open in the evening. The next morning, the first of two race days, the first demonstration drives will take place on the circuit. During the lunch break, the cars will be parked on the circuit for the pit walk. Afterwards, the next demonstration drives will continue at 13:00 until the evening. Sunday will be roughly the same with two demo drives and the pit walk.
Who rides in which category?
There are 14 categories in 2015, 12 for cars and two for motorcycles. Veteran cars from 1905 to 1918 will compete in category 1, while single and two-seater racing cars will compete in categories 2 to 5, divided by year (cat. 2: 1919-46, cat. 3: 1947-65, cat. 4: 1966-76, cat. 5: 1977-86). Touring and GT vehicles compete in categories 6 to 10, also divided by year. At the Lignière Historique there is also a class for special vehicles up to 1990. The last two categories, Cat. 13 and 14, are reserved for solo motorcycles and side cars.
There will also be real races for licensed drivers and vehicles in 2015, but their organization is currently under discussion and it is recommended to register now in the demo classes if you are interested, as starting places are scarce.
Costs and registration
Anyone wishing to register their car will pay CHF 520 per car. This includes a starting place, the start with one car, a covered parking space and a weekend pass with entry for two people. The registration fee for motorcycles is CHF 240.
Further information and registration forms can be found on the event website. The registration deadline is March 31, 2015.
