The 73rd Goodwood Members' Meeting in England starts in around a week's time. Last Tuesday was the second test day for the participants, on which they were allowed to try out the track and which only increased the anticipation for the race weekend in Goodwood on March 21 and 22, 2015.
A wide variety of racing cars were present, but there were also one or two stars among the drivers in attendance.
Famous Jaguar E-Types
For example, a short voyage of discovery through the paddock revealed a Jaguar E-Type with the registration number 13 FXN, a replica of the 49 FXN, which is being driven this year by Alastair McCaig. But he is not the only one at the wheel of an E-Type, as former World Touring Car Champion Rob Huff also took his famous ex-Dick Prothero E-Type, best known by its registration number CUT 7, for a spin. Huff and his Jaguar will be on show at the Hill Trophy at the 2015 Members' Meeting.
Shelby Cobra, Bizzarrini etc.
But not only Jaguar was present. A Shelby Cobra CSX2051, currently owned by Gavin Henderson, was also seen out on the track. There has almost certainly not been a year in its life in which this magnificent Cobra has not raced...
Also on display were beauties such as a Bizzarrini 5300GT as well as many British sports cars and formula cars. They will of course all be on display in a week or so at the various races at the 73rd Goodwood Members' Meeting.
Full racing program
From 1971 to the beginning of 1976, Formula 1 cars were fitted with increasingly unusual air scoops, which were enthroned high above the drivers' heads. They will now be celebrated at the 73rd MM.
In addition to a full racing program with spectacular F1 racing cars from the 70s, spectators can expect to see the largest collection of McLaren F1 GTRs. There will also be a group of wild "Group C" Le Mans cars at the start, which will take part in various demo runs with many other impressive racing cars. In addition, great Group 1 "tin-tops" from the 70s and early 80s will once again be taking part.
New: Race for Formula 3 "screamers"
An interesting addition to this year's program is the race for F3 "screamers" who raced between 1964 and 1970. These high-revving, highly tuned racing cars are sure to provide excitement and action on the legendary Goodwood Circuit.
There are once again many exciting races and demonstration drives planned for the 73rd Goodwood Members' Meeting on March 21 and 22. As a foretaste, we recommend our extensive picture gallery from the test days, which we owe to Stuart Adams.
