On September 5, 2015, the Porsche Center Zurich, located in neighboring Schlieren, hosted the Service & Classic Day.
This was an open day, so to speak, and an opportunity to look behind the scenes and take a close look at the modern workshop, bodywork department and paint shop.
At the same time, of course, it was also possible to admire Porsche classics, which had been brought together in considerable numbers for the occasion. And even though many people equate Porsche with the 911, there were also other sports cars from Porsche on the various floors, such as a 914/6 or a 924, and of course models of the early Porsche 356.
They are serious about the classics, said Alexander Mezger, responsible for marketing, on site. They also want to build up expertise in old cars and be a good partner for the many old Porsche customers. In any case, this is a matter of the heart, as some employees at the Porsche Center in Schlieren already own vintage and classic Porsche cars.
However, Alexander Mezger himself has an even stronger connection, as he is actually related, albeit distantly, to Hans Mezger, who was involved in almost all of Porsche's engine developments after the 356 and also designed the Porsche 917 together with Ferdinand Piëch.
So it will be interesting to see what develops at the Porsche Center Zurich in Schlieren in the coming months and years with regard to classic cars. Further information can be found on the company's website.
