The classic car caravan that will take to the wheels of the Ennstal-Classic on July 16 will show us the years 1917 to 1972, which are among the most creative and exciting in automotive history.
The colorful cross-section ranges from the American La France Tourer from 1917 to the Dino 246 GT from 1972, from the Bentley Speed Six from 1930 to the Veritas RS, Porsche 356 and Lancia Aurelia B20, from the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing to the tiny Messerschmitt Tiger to the Ferrari 275 GTB4 and Porsche 911.
Pre-war cars are becoming increasingly rare, and Ferraris from the 50s and 60s are becoming more and more expensive, but those who still enter their classic cars in a competition like the Ennstal-Classic are interested in more than just being seen: Participants buy themselves a ticket back to their youth!
The Porsche brand has the highest "market share" in the starting field from 18 nations, which is no coincidence, because with a 356 or 911 you are virtually guaranteed success at this three-day event with start on Thursday and finish on Saturday.Porsche drivers also play a leading role in the celebrity league: Walter Röhrl drives a 356 Speedster in 2015, Dr. Wolfgang Porsche and his son Ferdinand will be driving a 356 Carrera 2, Bernhard Maier, Member of the Executive Board for Sales, will be driving a 356 Carrera GT, Hans Gerd Bode, Head of Porsche Public Relations, will be driving a 911 S Targa and Richard Mieling, Press Spokesman for the holding company in Salzburg, will be driving a Porsche 914/6.
There are many celebrities on the starting grid: Minister of Justice Wolfgang Brandstetter, Max Lauda (Niki's cousin), industry zampano Siegfried Wolf, Chopard owner Karl Scheufele, Christian and Nora Trierenberg (Geolyth, B&M Tricon, Georgiberg-Weine), logistics entrepreneur Johannes Hödlmayr, Ferrari Club Austria President Werner Paulinz, Helmut Schramke (Mothwurf), Thomas Körpert (Vredestein Austria boss), TV star Martin Gruber ("Die Bergretter"), rally icon Rauno Aaltonen, Peter Schöggl (head of the AVL racing department in Graz),Formula 1 legend Jo Ramirez, metalworker Alois Heidenbauer, Jürgen Stockmar (top manager in the automotive industry) and comedian star Alex Kristan.
And the Chopard Racecar Trophy will also feature big names and racing celebrities, the starting list will be presented soon.
