For the eleventh time, Johannes Hübner and his team of organizers are inviting visitors to the AvD Classic Gala Schwetzingen, just a few kilometers from Heidelberg. From September 4 to 6, 2015, friends of the automobile are invited to view beautiful classics and timeless exotics.
Many attractions
A Röhr 8 F with Autenrieth bodywork from 1932 will be on display for the first time, a car that achieved world renown as a one-off.
Some of the most powerful and fastest rarities in the world will be on display in the special "Super sports cars" show. The "Big Show of the Smallest", a compilation of small cars with rarities from the economic miracle era, including the brands Kroboth, Maico, Champion and many others, has a completely different focus.
Classic and modern sports cars will be brought together in a special Porsche show.
Jaguar presents its legendary sports cars, from the SS 100 and the XK120 to the E-Type and XJ 220.
The presentation of the only surviving Steiger racing car from the 1920s is also a world premiere.
The oldest forerunner of all Bugatti cars, a Darracq Type 5 built in 1903 for the Paris-Madrid race with a 13-liter engine, is also likely to generate a great deal of interest. Adler automobiles from Frankfurt, the world's oldest DELTA-Tatra, the world's oldest electric car from 1885 and the oldest Ford from 1901 will also be on display in a trio with the Benz Velo from 1893, complemented by the lightweight future electric car "Calmar". Another special show is dedicated to special German car bodies.
And then, of course, the elegance competition
The beauty contest will feature, among others unique Italian sports cars from the 1930s to the 1970s, including the winning car of the Concors d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, but of course it is not just Italian classics such as the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Freccia d'Oro from 1948 or the Lamborghini Miura P400 from 1969, but also exotic cars and specialists from many other countries, such as the Rosengart LR 539 Supertraction from 1938 from France, the Sunbeam Alpine from 1952 from England, the Tatra 603 V8 from 1963 from the Czech Republic, the DeLorean DMC 12 from 1982 from Ireland or the Isdera Imperator from 1988 from Germany. It will be interesting to see who "wins the race" here.
With US-Car-Concours
The 3rd US Classic Car Concours will take place on a separate area at the Hirschbrunnen. This "USCCC" is the only competition of its kind for American automobiles that is open exclusively to original US vehicles from all decades up to 1990.This year, it is primarily dedicated to Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth vehicles, but is open to all makes and models and a "nest" for all fans of American car culture.
The entrance fee is fairly priced at Euro 5.00 and also includes a visit to the state palaces and gardens in Württemberg. The AvD Classic Gala Schwetzingen thus deliberately invites friends of architecture and garden art, culture and all families and fans of classic automobiles to enjoy this unique show of automotive history.
Further information on the event can be found on the Classic Gala Schwetzingen website.
