An online auction of 20 classic cars is running on Catawiki until 20:00 on Pentecost Sunday, April 5, 2022. The assortment ranges from the MGA 1500 to the Ferrari 348 TS, from fast delivery vans to racing cars.
Lots of Porsche and Mercedes-Benz
Half of the cars on offer are from Stuttgart. Five Porsches and five Mercedes-Benzes are waiting for a new owner. Two Porsche 356s - a C from 1964 and an SC 1965 - are expected to fetch around 130,000 euros each.
The two Porsche 911s - a Carrera 3.2 from 1987 and a replica 3.0 RS from 1974 in Gulf livery - are considerably further apart at 60,000 and 170,000 euros. Underneath the cheapest Porsche for 30,000 to 39,000 euros is a Beetle: a 356-A replica, interestingly as a coupé and not as a Speedster.
The Mercedes-Benz W111 is available as either a coupé or a convertible. Up to 50,000 euros are expected for the closed 220 SE from 1964. According to the experts, the open 250 SE from 1968 should fetch around three times as much.
The youngest "Mercedes-Benz" in the range pretends to be the oldest. The brand name is in quotation marks because underneath the replica of a 1936 500 K special roadster is the technology of a 1977 Chevrolet Camaro.
Expensive convertibles
The oldest car in the auction is actually a Jaguar 3 1/2 Litre Mark IV Drophead Coupé from 1948, with an estimated price of around 150,000 euros. The most recent offer is a Land Rover Defender 90 TD5 from 2001, which is expected to fetch 50,000 euros.
There are also two versions of the Jaguar E-Type to choose from: a V12 Series 3 convertible and a racing-style Series 1 coupé from 1963 for either 90,000 or 70,000 euros.
The only non-Swabian among the German offerings is an Alpina B9 3.5 based on the BMW E28. The sedan imported from Japan is expected to cost around 50,000 euros.
The cheapest car according to the estimated price is a 1953 Chevrolet Delivery Sedan, which has been estimated at between 20,000 and 24,500 euros. The most expensive car is expected to be a Mercedes-Benz 190 SL for up to 180,000 euros, according to experts.
