Rare classic station wagons, V8 movie cars, the "Young Classics", T3 campers, 20th century US bikes and racing bikes from the 1940s to 1980s - the organizers of the Bremen Classic Motorshow have developed new special shows and trading platforms for the 17th edition. Collectors, dealers, mechanics, like-minded people and friends will come together for the first event of the year from Friday to Sunday, February 1 to 3, 2019, in the eight halls of Messe Bremen to celebrate the start of the new season.
Around 650 exhibitors
"Around 650 exhibitors from eleven nations will be presenting everything that beginners, experts and enthusiasts could wish for on around 47,000 square meters, from suitable spare parts to new vehicles," says Frank Ruge, project manager of the Bremen classic car fair. In between, there will also be the odd "petrol talk" or exchange of restoration tips: "That's all part of it in Bremen," says Ruge.
Just like the 100 or so automobile and two-wheeler clubs that offer visitors the chance to relive vehicle history with their presentations at every Bremen Classic Motorshow. At the start of the 2018 season, 40,931 fans of classic cars and young classics on two and four wheels came to the Bremen exhibition halls.
Station wagons as the theme of a special show
In 2019, the special show "Kombi Nations" in Hall 5 will feature twelve exhibits showcasing the international range of station wagons - as they are officially known - including one-offs, exotics and style studies.
One highlight: the Aston Martin DB5 Shooting Brake, the estate version of James Bond's legendary company car, of which only twelve were built.
Movie stars
Speaking of movie heroes made of sheet metal: six replicas of famous eight-cylinder cars will be on show in Hall 6 as "V8 movie stars".
These include "Christine" from John Carpenter's horror film of the same name, in which a 1958 Plymouth Fury goes into a rage, and the "Blues Mobil" from "Blues Brothers", a 1974 Dodge Monaco.
Birthday of the VW T3
The automobile birthday boy of the year will of course not be missing at the Bremen Classic Motorshow 2019.
To mark the 40th anniversary, Frank Ruge and his team are dedicating an extra area to the Volkswagen T3. Six T3 models are for sale in the exhibition in Hall 4. The highlight: a floating T3 bus. Dirk Klöß, one of Germany's best-known T3 restorers, uses a T3 Joker to explain what newcomers should look out for when buying.
Cool motorcycles
The special two-wheeler show in Hall 1 puts the glamorous early years of the US motorcycle industry in the right light.
The 20 or so US bikes reveal the innovations and creativity of the machine manufacturers from the land of unlimited possibilities. Anyone interested in finding out more about the development of the racing bike is in the right place in the foyer of Hall 1.
And, of course, cars for sale
Also at the Bremen Classic Motorshow: the international sales exhibition of classic cars in Halls 4, 5 and 6, where visitors can purchase the right vehicle for the coming season. Once again to be found in Hall 6 are the "Young Classics" - models from the 1960s to 1990s that have been inspected by TÜV Rheinland. Another destination for hunters and collectors: the vehicle exchange in the parking garage, where numerous oldies and youngtimers can be purchased from private buyers. Offers for two-wheeler fans can be found in Hall 1, while the parts market in Halls 7 and 8 offers spare parts and accessories.
The Bremen Classic Motorshow takes place from Friday to Sunday, February 1 to 3, 2019, in all halls of Messe Bremen as well as the mobile Hall 8. The halls are open from 9 am to 6 pm. The day ticket costs 16 euros.
