On September 26, 2015, 48 vehicles from the Frederiksen Collection are to be auctioned in Ebeltoft, Denmark.
The venue for Bonhams' first Danish auction is the residence of the collection's owner, Henrik Frederiksen: a picturesque and very impressive 16th century manor house near Arhus in Denmark.
Over the years, Henrik Frederiksen has amassed a collection that is considered one of Europe's finest, with examples from the halls of fame of the automotive world's greatest.
Mainly pre-war vehicles
The auction will mainly feature pre-war vehicles produced by some of the world's most important car manufacturers, including Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, Lagonda and Maybach. Many of the vehicles have already won prizes at Pebble Beach and Villa d'Este.
Great variety of important stamps
It is rare to find a collection from a single owner that offers such a wide range of important car brands and yet has a clear common denominator, namely the goal of perfection.
Rolls-Royce dominates
The best of British, European and American motoring comes together in the Frederiksen collection, with 13 Rolls-Royces, three Mercedes-Benzes, three Cadillacs and two Bentleys with further Lagonda, Duesenberg, Jaguar, Horch, Chrysler, Renault, Citroën, Isotta Fraschini, Ahrens-Fox, Lincoln, Stutz, Packard, Auburn, Pierce Arrow and Alvis.
From the Queen Victoria to the Déesse
From a Woods Electric Queen Victoria Brougham from 1905 to a Citroën DS 23 Pallas from 1974, the collection provides a fascinating insight into the development of automobile construction. Some very rare examples are included, such as a Lagonda LG6 Rapide Drophead from 1939...
...or the Maybach SW38 Special Roadster Spohn from 1933.
Other interesting vehicles are a Maybach DS8 Zeppelin Roadster from 1933 or a Duesenberg J Disappearing Top from 1931.
