Following the successful first Bonmont auction in 2019, which included a world record price for a Lamborghini Veneno (CHF 8,280,000), Bonhams returns to the Bonmont Golf & Country Club in Chéserex (near Geneva) on September 20.
Cars and motorcycles for at least four target groups
The offer consists of 80 vehicles with a total value of CHF 18.8 million. The first 26 lots are motorcycles, which are expected to cost an average of around CHF 15,000, while the remaining 54 lots are cars with an average age of 25 years.
This already shows that very young vehicles are also coming under the hammer, although super classics from the sixties to eighties and pre-war gems are not missing.
33 cars from the new millennium
As was the case a year ago, the new classics will also be well represented on September 20, 2020. A total of 33 vehicles come from the years after 2000, including some particularly rare hyper sports cars.
Two exceptional Bugatti Veyron cars lead the selection of young automobiles, all models from the world's sportiest and most luxurious car brands. The 16.4 Super Sport Coupé from 2010 and the 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse from 2014 - both highly sought-after versions of the French super sports car that set a new benchmark for this category when they were launched - offer potential buyers the choice between driving pleasure in summer or winter; for the passionate Bugatti collector even both...
Each of the vehicles has less than 700 km on the clock - roughly equivalent to a jaunt from Geneva to Cannes and back - and is offered with an estimated price of CHF 1.6 to 2.1.
In addition to the duo, ten other "supercars", also in mint condition, are being offered, all from a private collection, including a Ferrari 599 SA Aperta with an estimated price of CHF 1.1 to 1.4 million and a sporty Mercedes pair from the AMG SLS "Black Series" in the coupé version, valued at CHF 450,000 to 650,000 each.
Another remarkable lot is probably the most beautiful hybrid hyper sports car of our time, a 2016 Porsche 918 Spyder, which is expected to find a new owner for CHF 1.1 to 1.3 million.
The elegant open-top Frua-Maserati
Another highlight of the auction is a sports car from the 1960s, a Maserati Mistral Spyder, first presented at the Turin Motor Show in 1963. Only 125 of these stunning convertibles were produced, and it remains one of the most popular models of the Maserati brand. The vehicle on offer was delivered new to Switzerland and has been in the possession of the consignor's family since 1971.
The estimated value was set at CHF 400,000 to 500,000.
The elegant Ferrari 250 GT Series II Coupé from 1959 is expected to be even more expensive (CHF 400,000 to 600,000).
Two Bentleys with Swiss coachwork
Two pre-war Bentleys are particularly interesting from a Swiss perspective, as they both feature bodies by Swiss sheet metal artists. One is a "Derby" Bentley 4.5-liter with a convertible body by the Bernese coachbuilder Worblaufen.
Built in 1938, the four-door 4.5-liter convertible has graced the lawns of the Villa d'Este and Pebble Beach Concours in recent years. The Bentley is being offered with matching luggage and has an estimated value of CHF 300,000 to 500,000.
Another special feature is the Bentey of the same vintage, dressed by Walter Köng in Basel, which is now looking for a new owner for CHF 240,000 to 300,000.
Cheaper classics too
Bonmont has a wide range of cars on offer, including a Fiat 500F from 1965 (CHF 10,000 to 15,000), a Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo 2 from 1994 (CHF 80,000 to 120,000) and a Morgan 4/4 Sports from 1969 (CHF 40,000 to 60,000).
Also a MG TD from 1952 is not missing, it should find a new garage for CHF 20'000 to 30'000. Like 23 other cars, it will go under the hammer without a reserve price.
Motorcycles in Bonmont
But not only cars are on offer, there is also an interesting selection of classic and vintage motorcycles, including a Honda CB500 from 1977, an original Swiss police motorcycle that was used in the cantons of Fribourg and Solothurn.
There is also an impressive collection of more than 20 BMW touring motorcycles on offer, representing eight decades of Bavarian motorcycle history - including two rare and coveted models. for example, two rare and coveted models from the 1920s, a 494CC R42 from 1927 (estimated price CHF 36,000 to 48,000) and a 1928 500CC R57, one of only 1006 examples built (CHF 54,000 to 78,000).
Completely traditional style for the first time
Bonhams Europe will hold a traditional live auction for the first time since the Paris Grand Palais Sale in February 2020. Bids will be accepted in the room as well as online, telephone and absentee bids. All local Covid restrictions will of course be strictly adhered to in order to ensure the safety of our customers and employees.
Admission is only possible upon presentation of the auction catalog. Bidders are requested to register in advance. The auction will also be broadcast live and the individual lots will be presented by video.
The vehicles can be previewed on Friday (13:00 to 19:00), on Saturday (10:00 to 19:00) and before the auction on Sunday (10:00 to 13:00). The auction will then begin at 14:00.
Further information and many pictures of the individual lots can be found on the Bonhams website.
