It made its debut at IFA 2026 in Berlin, and now it’s available in stores: With the CLASSIC series, Blaupunkt is launching a line of speakers designed to be discreet. Five systems are primarily aimed at owners of classic cars and youngtimers—but thanks to their modern technology, they’re just as suitable for newer vehicles.
A Classic Look for Classic Cars
Anyone who has ever replaced speakers in a historic car is familiar with the fundamental problem: great sound clashes with a design that doesn’t match the dashboard, door panels, or rear shelf. That’s why the CLASSIC series is designed entirely in a retro style. The matte black design is inspired by classic car audio components and blends seamlessly into vehicles from a wide range of eras.
Five models for virtually any installation scenario
The series includes the three coaxial speakers—CLASSIC 100 Cx, 130 Cx, and 165 Cx—as well as the two component systems, CLASSIC 130 Cs and 165 Cs, with separate tweeters and crossovers. With this lineup, Blaupunkt covers all standard installation sizes—from the compact 10-series to the full-size 16-series.
Crucial for classic cars: the shallow installation depth
Space is particularly limited in historic cars. Powerful neodymium magnets allow Blaupunkt to keep installation depths low: The CLASSIC 100 Cx is only 34.7 millimeters deep, the 13-series models are 43.8 millimeters deep, and the 16-series models are 44.4 millimeters deep. In many cases, this means the systems can be retrofitted without having to cut into the body or interior.
Modern Technology Behind a Classic Facade
Beneath the retro exterior lies state-of-the-art speaker technology: coated cellulose cones, rubber surrounds, gold-plated terminals, and the aforementioned neodymium magnets. All models operate at 4 ohms, making them compatible with both classic and modern car stereos.
While the coaxial systems are designed as straightforward plug-and-play solutions, the two component systems are aimed at more discerning listeners. Both combine the woofer with a separate 25.5-mm silk dome tweeter and independent crossovers. The CLASSIC 130 Cs has a maximum power handling capacity of 100 watts and a frequency range of 70 to 20,000 hertz, while the larger CLASSIC 165 Cs has a maximum power handling capacity of 120 watts and a frequency range of 60 to 20,000 hertz —both with a sensitivity of 90 dB.
