The 48th AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix (August 7 to 9, 2020) may take place with spectators in the grandstands. The race track operators and the Ahrweiler district administration have agreed that 5,000 spectators will be allowed to watch the classic car festival in selected areas on each of the three days of the event.
The first event of the year with fans at the track is made possible by a comprehensive health concept that ensures compliance with hygiene and distancing rules at all times. Advance ticket sales are therefore starting immediately with a huge discount: As access to the paddock is exceptionally not possible this year and visitors are only allowed to attend from a fixed seat on site, all ticket prices are reduced by 50 percent. So if you want to secure your ticket, you should be quick.
For technical reasons, visitors who have already purchased their ticket must also purchase a new ticket (tickets already purchased can of course be returned or kept for 2021) in order to be able to both reserve seats and realize the discount. Booking is now only possible online at www.nuerburgring.de/ogp
Extensive program
From selected grandstand seats, visitors can enjoy a program featuring many rare, impressive and legendary vehicles at the Nürburgring on the second weekend in August. Around two months before the Formula 1 World Championship returns to the Nürburgring, there will also be a journey back in time to the history of the premier class: Jacky Ickx (BEL) and René Arnoux (FRA) are among the most prominent drivers in the new Formula 1 demo race, which will mainly feature Ferarri F1 cars from the 70s to 90s. Historic sports and touring cars as well as GTs, which take you back to the history of Le Mans as well as DTM and DRM history, for example, make the historic motorsport experience perfect.
Then there are the pre-war racing cars of the "Vintage Sports Car Trophy", which date back to the founding days of the legendary Eifel circuit. And with the Ferraris of the FCD Racing Series and the cars of the International Audi R8 LMS Cup, there are even excursions into current motorsport.
Free livestream
For those unable to go, the AvD OGP will bring continental Europe's most important classic motorsport weekend from the Nürburgring directly to their homes: Together with Nürburgring TV, the organizers will provide extensive live streaming that captures the racing action from the track as well as the stories behind the racing classes and cars. For fans of classic cars, the service is of course free of charge. There will be eight hours of live broadcasting on both Saturday and Sunday, to which RTL Formula 1 reporter Peter Reichert will also contribute: he will capture automotive stories with a camera team in the paddock.
The free streaming offer can be viewed via the official homepage and the AvD OGP YouTube channel as well as via the Nürburgring and Nürburgring TV channels. At the same time, the efforts of the Nürburgring and the organizers are continuing to find a solution for the admission of spectators on site - constructive talks with the responsible approval authorities are still ongoing.
Livestream, ticket bookings and further information are available on the AvD OGP website.
