When historic vehicles from various decades of motorsport meet the legendary Nürburgring, spectators can experience racing history with all their senses. As one of the biggest classic car events in Europe, the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix from August 7 to 9, 2015 will open the next chapter of a traditional success story at the Nürburgring.
Contract secures the future of the traditional event
Carsten Schumacher, Managing Director of capricorn Nürburgring GmbH, and Dr. Andreas Nowack, Managing Director of AvD-Oldtimer-Grand-Prix GmbH und Co OHG, signed a corresponding contract that secures the cooperation for the next year and creates a solid basis for the successful continuation of the event at the Nürburgring beyond that.
Since its opening in 1927, drivers and machines from all continents have been competing on the world's longest permanent race track. Three-time Formula 1 world champion Sir Jackie Stewart once said: "The Nürburgring is the track where every racing driver wants to win." Accordingly, the Nürburgring has produced numerous great winners and unforgettable motorsport stories to this day. Spectators can experience first-hand in which vehicles these great and minor stories were written.
Great moments in motorsport history are brought to life at racing speed on the Grand Prix circuit and the venerable Nordschleife. Detailed observation, amazement and hands-on experience are also possible at any time in the open Grand Prix paddock and the lovingly designed historic paddock. "By staging the 2015 AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix, we will once again be able to offer visitors to the Nürburgring a top-class and emotional event next year. The contract lays the foundation for the continuation of the traditional event, which brings the legend of the Nürburgring and the history of countless makes and races to life," says a delighted Carsten Schumacher.
AvD Historic Marathon celebrates anniversary
The race program has also been largely finalized. The races of the historic FIA Formula 1 Championship and the DRM cars that are extremely popular with the fans will be back as well as the atmospheric evening race of the two-seater racing cars and GTs up to 1960/61. The AvD Historic Marathon will again kick off the weekend. The endurance race for historic touring cars and GTs will be held on the legendary Nordschleife for the 25th time. Additional program items on and off the race track once again promise an impressive classic car festival.
