The AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix will once again transform the Nürburgring into a museum of racing history from August 12 to 14, 2022. After what is probably Germany's biggest historic motorsport event was canceled last year due to flooding in the Ahr-Eifel region, the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix can take place again on the second weekend in August.
For three days, it will not only be possible to see the automotive heroes of days gone by from the post-war era to the early 2000s, but also to hear and experience them. With the four series of the British "Masters Historic Racing", Formula 1 racing cars from 1966 to 1985 and two races for historic sports cars and prototypes will be returning to the Nürburgring. Other CanAm and Group C cars will take part in corresponding races under the umbrella of the German FHR. With its "Classic Cup", the DTM sends a fast-paced greeting to the traditional event, which promises a great starting field with race touring cars from earlier DTM, DRM and STW times.
The pre-war racing car meeting, which is part of the "Vintage Sports Car Trophy", also has a permanent place in the program. The oldest cars of the entire weekend will not only compete on the Grand Prix circuit, but also on the Nordschleife. The "Lurani Trophy" race, in which Formula Junior cars from the early 1960s compete, is also likely to be extremely well attended. In Germany, Wolfgang Graf Berghe von Trips was one of its founding fathers - he will be commemorated with a parade of Formula 1 cars from the Sharknose era.
The paddock invites you to stroll around, where you can not only marvel at the historic racing cars up close, but also discover much more. As always, access to the paddock is included in the admission price for the biggest classic car festival at the Nürburgring. If you would like to secure your tickets in advance, you can do so on the official homepage at www.oldtimergrandprix.com. There you will also find lots more news and information.
