From August 7 to 9, the Nürburgring will traditionally become a time machine: at the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix, racing cars from seven decades will provide an exciting journey into the motorsport past.
Something for every taste
Formula racing ranges from Formula 1 to junior monoposti. Two excellent sports car races present beautiful vehicles and on Saturday, the cars of the 50s will be racing into the twilight at the evening race. Of course, several races are dedicated to touring cars and GTs. There is also an extensive program for pre-war vehicles, which has been put together together with the ASC (Allgemeiner Schnauferl-Club).
Ten racing classes will be competing on the Grand Prix circuit at this year's AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix. They will be joined by the AvD Historic Marathon and the Nürburgring Trophy that traditionally open the weekend program on Friday with an endurance race on the legendary Nordschleife.
Vehicle presentations by the event partners will enrich the program, as will two highly attractive regularity tests (GLP). In one, the oldest vehicles of the weekend will take to the Grand Prix circuit twice. In addition, there will be a program with touring laps on the Nordschleife and a drive through the Eifel - all together making up the Vintage Sports Car Trophy / The ASC Trophy, which has become one of the highlights of the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix. The other GLP is reserved for cars from the DTM and the Super Touring Car Championship. The entrants in this touring car revival ideally complement the field in the popular DRM revival race. In keeping with the theme, there will also be races for older-generation touring cars and GTs, including a new Jaguar race.
Journey of discovery in the paddock
In addition to the vehicles from the races and GLPs, there are also many exhibition vehicles with legendary histories to admire in the paddock, as well as dealers offering everything a classic car fan's heart desires, from stylish vintage outfits to automotive literature and spare parts. Visitors should also be sure to plan a visit to the historic paddock, where pre-war racing cars will be on display.
The areas of the automobile factories and brand clubs are also well worth a visit: they meet in the Mercedes Arena, for example, where hundreds of beautiful road vehicles are presented in gleaming chrome. Other clubs can be found in the parking areas opposite the Lindner Hotel. There, too, there are traditionally many automotive highlights to marvel at. The best thing is that admission to the paddock is included in every ticket.
