Current exhibition: "Folding, cranking, folding"
In the current exhibition program "Folding, cranking, folding" at the Erwin Hymer Museum, everything revolves around tent and folding caravans. The ingenious designs of the caravans on display show how "large" caravans for living can be transformed into small trailers for traveling in just a few simple steps. Since the early days of caravanning, not only have "large" caravans been folded, but also cranked and folded in every direction to make them very small for low-motorized towing vehicles: The "Hausdabei" from the 1930s can be folded up like a fan, the "Bud" can be closed like a flower with the help of a crank.the "Brüderchen" can be folded into one another or the French "Beauer" can be folded down to a third of its size at the touch of a button.
The ingenious vehicles in the exhibition are complemented by numerous exciting hands-on stations where visitors can try their hand at ingenious folding techniques, get to know foldable camping utensils or have to crank a caravan into balance. The interactive exhibition program allows visitors to immerse themselves in the world of folding caravans and folding caravans and experience the creative solutions and their history(ies) up close.

On the future route in the exhibition, the museum presents exciting visions of the future of mobility and travel from car manufacturers and budding transportation, interior and mobility designers. Summer 2020 outlook: "Knutschkugel on the road"
"Tiny and yet huge" - In summer, the focus will be on small travel vehicles such as small cars, mini caravans, cabin scooters, Vespa & Co. How did people travel in the era of the economic miracle, how have small vehicles developed in the following decades and are they part of today's visions of the future?
The highlight of the summer at the Erwin Hymer Museum is the annual "summertime!" classic car event on August 8 and 9, when the museum grounds are transformed into a historic campsite. Numerous vintage caravans, motorhomes and camper vans and their owners will bring history to life. This year's motto "Tiny and yet huge - mini cars, mini caravans, cabin scooters, Vespa & Co." focuses on the touring vehicles of the economic miracle era. Visitors are invited to travel back to the time when everyone dreamed of the land of blossoming lemon trees and discover the cult vehicles of the 1950s!
