There will be no more RAID Suisse-Paris in 2018. Instead, there will be the RAID du Sud: Gstaad - Cannes Mandelieu.
The RAID Suisse-Paris was one of the oldest classic car rallies ever. The 27th RAID Suisse-Paris also marked the end of a piece of history. As the number of registrations continued to fall and the number of competing events increased, the RAID organizers were forced to reorganize the event.
The first RAID Suisse-Paris took place in 1990 and over the 27 years the term RAID has stood for rally tradition, professionalism and the friendliness of the officials. The joy of driving, the desire to discover new things. And on roads that are made for the witnesses of automotive culture. Really feeling your classic car on a long journey, overcoming distance and time in sporting competition and all this in the style of days long gone.
Of course, the many years of experience gained with the RAID Suisse-Paris are also the inspiration for the RAID du Sud. Once again, the journey will lead from Switzerland to France.
The start will be on Saturday, September 15, 2018 in Gstaad. This will be followed by a ride over the Vaud Alps (Col du Pillon) and Savoie to Provence and the sea. The destination is Cannes Mandelieu. The award ceremony and the final dinner will take place right by the sea.
The invitation to tender for the RAID du Sud will be published with all details at the beginning of 2018.
