After the theatrical release of the 25th James Bond film "No Time to Die" was repeatedly postponed due to the pandemic, 007 is finally set to hit theaters on September 30.
Bond's automotive house and yard supplier Aston Martin used this occasion to draw the attention of eagerly waiting fans at the premiere of their new TV commercial outside Battersea Power Station in London to the fact that the agent on Her Majesty's Secret Service will be driving four models from Gaydon in his latest assignment: the famous DB5 from "Goldfinger" and "Fireball", which has made an appearance in almost every Bond flick since "Goldeneye" in 1995, the classic V8 from "The Touch of Death", the current DBS and the Valhalla hypercar study.
In addition, Aston Martin's marketing strategists came up with a special gag and unveiled a life-size replica of the Corgi Toys model from the sixties, complete with a correspondingly large "box". The "toy" is an Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger Continuation equipped with a number of gadgets from the eponymous film: rotating license plates, bullet-proof rear panel, extendable rams at the front and, of course, machine guns behind the turn signals.
The large Corgi-Aston differs from the original in only one respect: while the small toy original was curiously painted in metallic gold, the large Continuation model is correctly painted "Silver Birch". And while just 25 of the roadworthy new edition were produced, the Corgi DB5 is said to have found its way into over 20 million children's bedrooms.
The life-size Corgi DB5 box will be on display at Battersea Power Station until October 1, 2021.
