Artcurial is holding its seventh auction this fall under the title "Sur Les Champs". The offer is not quite as glamorous as the one put together for the Rétromobile, but there are still some interesting classics up for auction.
81 vehicles are on the lot list, with a total value of around 18 million euros (CHF 22 million). On average, a vehicle is expected to change hands for Euro 225,000 or CHF 271,000. A quarter of the cars will be offered without a reserve price, but real bargains are usually not what auctioneer Hervé Poulain has in mind and he will do everything in his power to prevent low prices.
The offer includes classics such as the Porsche 356, Dino 246 GT/GTS or Jaguar E-Type, as well as exotic cars such as a Facel Facelia Cabriolet (1960), a TVR Vixen S2 from 1968 or an EJS Climax Special from 1956.
Artcurial expects the highest price of between 700,000 and 900,000 euros for a 1964 Aston Martin DB5.
The Ferrari F40 from 1989, estimated at between 750,000 and 850,000 euros, is likely to be only slightly cheaper.
Panhard Dyna selection
Panhard built carefully designed and innovative cars with the Dyna models in the 1950s. Artcurial will be auctioning four models on November 2, including a Dyna X87 Junior Roadster, a Dyna X85 Cabriolet, a Dyna X87 Junior Cabriolet and a Dyna X87 Limousine. The estimated prices range from Euro 10'000 to 30'000.
Even more money is expected for a rare DB Le Mans Cabriolet from 1961. Euro 25,000 to 35,000 seems to be a reasonable value for the rarity on offer, and who knows, maybe someone will get the French exotic even cheaper here, as the car is being offered without a minimum price.
Genuine Lancia works rally cars
In 1972, Sergio Barbasio and Piero Sodano contested rallies in the works Lancia Fulvia HF 1600 with chassis number "818540*002267*". Although no major victories were recorded, the Group 4 car has survived to this day and is restored to its original condition. Euro 80,000 to 120,000 would appear to be a sensible investment, as there were only a manageable number of genuine works cars.
This also applies to the second works car, a Group B-specification Lancia Delta S4 from 1985, which went down in the annals as the winner of the Argentina Rally with Biasion at the wheel. According to Artcurial, chassis ZLA038ARO00000209 corresponds exactly to the specifications of the time and was valued at between Euro 650,000 and 750,000.
With Gérard Depardieu in the Morgan
Alt Lot 206, a Morgan 4/4 from 1969, which attracts attention with two special features, comes under the hammer.
Firstly, it was in first hand until today and secondly, it made an appearance in the film "Les Valseues" with Gerard Depardieu and Patric Dewaere. Despite a restoration in 2005 and the two characteristics mentioned above, the estimated price of the car is within a very reasonable range of 20,000 to 30,000 euros.
Speedster selection
Artcurial has four different Porsche Speedsters on offer. Lot 211, a 356 A 1600 Speedster from 1958, will go under the hammer. This is followed by lot 270, a 911 Speedster in the wide version from 1989, and lot 269, a 964 Carrera 2 Speedster from 1993. The estimated prices in all cases are between 150,000 and 190,000 euros.
Finally, for fans of modern cars, there is a Porsche 997 Limited Edition 60 from 2011 up for auction.
From fairly old to almost new
While the latest vehicles (two DS 3 concept cars) are brand new, the age range extends back to 1950, although no pre-war vehicles are on offer this time.
The oldest car is a Delage D6 3L Autobineau, which is worth around 30,000 to 50,000 euros.
At the other end of the scale, a Maserati 3200 GT with boomerang tail lights and a 2001 model year catches the eye, which is listed in the catalog in very good condition for between 20,000 and 25,000 euros.
A 1992 Jaguar XJ 220 from Switzerland with just 8,650 km on the odometer and now looking for a new owner for between 95,000 and 145,000 euros appears to be a bargain.
