From August 31 to September 3, 2017, the Arosa ClassicCar hill climb will be held for the 13th time between Langwies and Arosa. A total of 169 vehicles are registered to compete in the three categories of competition, regularity and demonstration drives.
Wide range of vehicles
When it comes to winning the Competition class, Thomas Amweg, who will be competing in a 1988 BMW MK 50 03, will be the man to beat. The 2015 winner Roger Moser in the 1983 Martini Mk28 BMW Formula 2 will be a tough opponent. And Toni Seiler in the 1966 Lola T70 Spyder Mk II is also always likely to put in a par force ride.
The 1956 Maserati 250F, driven by Georg Kaufmann, and the 1981 BMW M1, with Nicolas Bührer at the wheel, will also be among the attractions for spectators, as will Heinz Köhli's TVR Griffith 200, Marcel Hayoz's Lotus 23 and Daniel Meierhofer's Sauber C3. With 32 participants, the racing class guarantees thrilling racing.
But the other classes are also home to attractive vehicles, such as a Porsche 914-6 GT, various Lotus Elan, the French Alpine A110 1800 Group IV or the unforgettable Lancia Fulvia Rallye 1.6 HF. Not to be forgotten is the 1917 American LaFrance, a crowd favorite, which will be heaved up the track like a steam engine.
The challenging route
With around 70 bends over a length of 7.3 km, the race track between Langwies and Arosa is one of the greatest challenges for motor sports enthusiasts. It takes a long time to get to grips with the entire route, which naturally gives the experienced pros an advantage. There is also a long downhill section with a tricky combination of bends at the end.
There is plenty for spectators to explore, such as the paddock in the Arosa Sports and Congress Center. Two grandstands at the finish line promise the best entertainment and clearly audible information from the track announcer. And there will also be plenty of food and drink in Arosa.
