The third issue 2019 and the 50th in total of Porschefahrer magazine is now available in stores and at newsstands. This issue's lead article is about the Boxster + Boxster S Type 986, while other articles report on the new Porsche Cayenne Coupé, the electric offensive of Porsche's Macan, a 964 Turbo S flat-twin and the special Wendler-Porsche W/RS-001.
The Porschefahrer website is now available with a new design, where the magazine can of course also be conveniently ordered.
A few articles are briefly presented here:
Made by Porsche - Cayenne Coupé
There is still room for growth at the top, which is why Porsche is adding a coupé version to the large SUV series. At last, many will think. For the first time in 17 years, Cayenne customers can choose between two versions.
Summer at last - Made by Porsche - 911 Carrera S Cabrio Type 992
A new 911 must be able to do everything a little better than its predecessor. And, above all, be faster. But can such standards also be applied to the convertible?
Cover story - Boxster + Boxster S Type 986
The eternally young Boxster is just over 20 and therefore in its prime. What the 986 offers in terms of driving pleasure, dynamics and design is currently not available for less money in the Porsche cosmos. A drive with the top down proves that perhaps that's all it needs.
Driving report - 718 Boxster + Cayman T - T for Two
Is it an extension of the model range upwards or downwards? The Touring version of the mid-engined 718 series is intended to be sportier and purist than the identically powered basic version, but has some fine extras to offer as standard. Is less more?
Flat out - Report - 964 Turbo S flat body
One step forward, two steps back. When the 993 was already on the doorstep, Porsche Exclusive built a small number of 964 Turbos with the flat-body look of the old G-model. The combination was somewhat out of fashion, but very special, powerful, expensive and, above all, rare: Only 76 were built.
Porsche fans worldwide - Jim Goodlett
Jim Goodlett goes the other way, the hard and dirty way. His 1978 911 SC doesn't sit polished in the air-conditioned garage, but drifts through dirt and forests in rally style.
Just the way I like it - Tuning - 911 Targa oil flap
What does the ideal Porsche look like? Christoph Penz didn't know either, but he found out anyway. At the end of a long journey, after many attempts and a few mistakes, the result was a classic Targa with modern performance: a tailor-made "oil flap" with 300 hp.
Open-heart surgery - the Porsche driver experiment - part 2
When Porsche driver-car Peter Trautmann pulled a G-model that had been stationary for almost three decades out of the garage, the 911 restoration experiment began with an uncertain outcome. The body has been restored, the chassis overhauled, so all that's missing is the engine. The adventure enters its second round.
Art in construction - Happy ending - Wendler-Porsche W/RS-001
Karosserie Wendler in Reutlingen was Porsche's extended workbench, the specialist for lightweight construction and racing bodies. When Zuffenhausen asked Wendler to design a closed GT racing car, Wendler built the W/RS-001.
