To mark the thirtieth anniversary of the Porsche 964, the publisher BMB Berlin Motor Books is publishing the book "Porsche 964 "30 Years" 1988-2018", limited to 964 copies.
The 964 model series became one of the most important in the history of the nine-eleven, as the car with its air-cooled boxer engine was in danger of drifting into the background in the mid-1980s. The heating problem seemed to break the neck of Porsche's most important car to this day.
However, its creators were not satisfied with this, as they continued to develop the 911 even without an official order - with the threat of dismissal breathing down their necks - in order to remedy the few weak points. The result was impressive, as the 964 model series catapulted the 911 concept into the present with state-of-the-art technology in 1988. The 911 Carrera 4 was even far ahead of its time as the first series-produced all-wheel-drive sports car.
To this day, the Porsche 964 is one of the most popular air-cooled Porsches of all time, as it combines sophisticated and reliable technology with safe driving characteristics and a fascinating engine sound.
Documented insider knowledge
Author Andreas Gabriel was once again able to interview the man who was instrumental in the survival of the 911 from 1979 onwards and who also shaped the 964 model series.
The book ""Porsche 964 "30 Years" 1988-2018" presents every single model in this series. In addition to detailed purchase advice and price developments in recent years, all special models are also covered in detail, some of which are completely unknown even to experts.
Porsche has once again opened up its historical archives for the book project, which is why unpublished photographs from the development phase of the 964 can be shown, among other things. The internationally recognized Porsche expert Tobias Kindermann also created an exclusive technical and statistical section on all Porsche 964s from the 1989-1994 model years.
Available from December 1, 2018
The 380-page bilingual (German/English) book can be ordered for EUR 99.80 each on the website of the publisher BMB Berlin Motor Books.
