We can finally celebrate! After the 2020 and 2021 editions were canceled due to coronavirus, the 10th anniversary will now be duly celebrated from July 21 - 23, 2022. As at the nine previous events, around 160 automobile witnesses from 50 years of rally history will once again ignite the passion for the sport during the festival weekend. The participants and fans are already getting their feet wet, and the town of Daun and the surrounding Vulkaneifel region are looking forward to "the class reunion of international rally sport".
Another anniversary will be celebrated at the festival weekend, as the World Rally Championship celebrates its 50th birthday in 2022. "We have been busy during the involuntary break and have had many discussions about this special occasion. As always, we only publish things when they are finalized, but the fans can look forward to a lot of really great surprises," promises Reinhard Klein (Cologne), who is responsible for the composition of the starting field.
International interest in the festival seems to have increased once again. Slowly Sideways teams from the Iberian peninsula want to "travel to the Eifel with at least one car transporter full of original or faithful replicas of historic rally cars".
Time for something new, but without discarding the tried and tested
From the new shakedown near Bodenbach to a completely new Friday stage and an additional highlight on Saturday: the anniversary festival offers participants and fans many new perspectives. The cornerstones of the event remain the same. "We want to stick to the tried and tested, but add attractive new details for participants and fans," says Head of Organization Otmar Anschütz (Daun). The excitement ahead of the festival anniversary is growing among drivers, fans and the entire rally community.
