The 83rd Goodwood Members’ Meeting delivered at the weekend of April 18 and 19, 2026 a sun‑soaked celebration of motorsport heritage, head-to-head racing and unforgettable moments for enthusiasts and families alike.
Spectacular demonstrations
One of the weekend’s standout moments was the on‑track celebration of ‘The James Hunt Years’, celebrating 50 years since the legendary driver’s Formula 1 World Championship.
Period-defining Formula 1 cars - including the McLaren M23 in which he secured his 1976 title - roared around the track, bringing to life the glamour, intensity and drama of 1970s Grand Prix racing. James’ son Freddie took to the wheel of the McLaren M26 - driven by his father during the 1977 season - wearing a replica helmet and leading the parade.
Members’ Meeting also celebrated the 50th anniversary of Barry Sheene’s first World Championship, with over 30 500cc Grand Prix motorcycles from 1974-1984 taking to the track, led by Barry’s son, Freddie, and close friend, Steve Parrish.
Over on the Brooklands Lawn, event-goers could visit Oscar’s nightclub - so named for James Hunt’s own nightclub - and enjoy a retro cocktail, as Members’ Meeting brought the 1970s to life.
Across the weekend, Jenson Button made his hugely-anticipated return to the cockpit of his 2009 championship‑winning Brawn BGP 001. Driving the car for the first time since 2019, Button was reunited with Ross Brawn, and the moment was met with enormous enthusiasm as crowds lined the track to watch this special moment.
Members’ Meeting brought all three Brawn BGP 001 chassis together for the first time, with two on static display over the weekend.
The largest gathering of Super Touring Cars proved another major highlight, with more than 40 iconic cars from the 1990s and early 2000s showcased in both static and dynamic displays. A 20‑car demonstration featuring champions from the period set the stage for a high‑stakes Shoot‑Out, which built to a dramatic crescendo on Sunday afternoon as Robb Huff took home the win.
Driven by 1998 IndyCar champion Kenny Bräck, the Lanzante 95-59 made its global dynamic debut on Saturday morning. Powered by an impressive 862PA (634kW) twin-turbo V8 engine, the 95-59 took the track across the weekend for a series of high-speed demonstrations to showcase its performance. Elsewhere at the event, Lanzante had a number of cars on display including a McLaren F1, McLaren P1 Spyder and Ford GT40. Further development of the 95-59 will be unveiled at this year’s Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard.
Racing highlights
Two races made their debut at the 83rd Members’ Meeting.
The first, the Protheroe Cup - celebrating the 65th anniversary of one of motoring’s most iconic creations, the Jaguar E‑Type, brought together a stunning grid of pre‑1963 racing E‑Types on Saturday evening, for a fiercely competitive contest that saw Dario Franchitti place first.
The Phil Hill Cup, the second new race of the weekend, paid tribute to the 1961 Formula 1 World Champion with a grid inspired by the great American sportscar races of the mid‑1960s. Won by 2009 Formula 1 Champion Jenson Button - who was making his Members’ Meeting racing debut - the Phil Hill Cup delivered close, spirited racing that showcased the beauty and capability of period machinery.
Running entirely on sustainable fuel, other racing highlights at the 83rd Members’ Meeting included the return of the Win Percy Trophy, which saw Group 1 saloon cars going head-to-head, with Rob Huff the overall winner. The Bruce McLaren Trophy - won by Phil Keen - welcomed a full grid of Can-Am and Group 7 sportscars, while the Gordon Spice Trophy once again welcomed a line-up of impressive Group 1 saloon cars, with some close competition as Romain Dumas and Fred Shepherd took the overall win.
Under the hammer
A collection of unique and spectacular vehicles went under the hammer at the Bonhams|Cars Auction on Sunday. Highlights included the Porsche 911 Type 996 GT3R RSR Race Car, 1925 Bentley 3-Litre Boat Tail Tourer and 1956 Austin-Healey 100M. Both Lamborghini supercars - the very rare manual-gearbox Murcielago Coupe and 50th Anniversary Gallardo LP560-2 - achieved well over their upper estimate of expectations.
Unmissable moments around the event
Away from the track, families and guests embraced the annual House Competition, with visitors taking part in everything from the sack race and bean‑bag toss, to duck herding, ferret racing and laser clay shooting.
On track, the drivers battled for valuable points for their respective houses, adding an extra layer of friendly rivalry, with Darnley ultimately claiming victory and House Captain Tom Kristensen collecting the House Shield from The Duke of Richmond on Sunday evening.
With glorious weather, spectacular racing, world‑class demonstrations and entertainment for all ages, the 83rd Members’ Meeting proved once again why it remains one of Goodwood’s most beloved and distinctive events - a vibrant celebration of motorsport, friendly competition and tradition.
Next years 84th Goodwood Members’ Meeting will take place on Saturday 10 & Sunday 11 April 2027.
