From August 22 to 24, the international VW meeting will take place for the 24th time in Château d'Œx. This festival, which takes place every two years on a weekend in August, brings together well over 1000 Volkswagens - whether Beetle, Bulli, Buggie or Karmann, as long as they are air-cooled. The whole thing takes place in a breathtaking natural landscape and a relaxed atmosphere.
A Beetle festival
The meeting extends over two meadows next to a hall where food and music are provided. The cars (mainly Beetles) are parked at one end of the site, while the Bulli drivers set up camp at the other. Those who can't or don't want to spend the night in their own vehicle can stay at the nearby campsite.
In addition to the exhibition of legendary vehicles, the program includes a Concours d'Elegance, colourful parades and a market for spare parts and accessories. There is also a family area with games, entertainment and shows for the children. While the little ones are busy there, the adults can stroll through the meeting.
Worlds collide at the meeting: originality purists park next to tuning fanatics, the stains of unrestored first paint are reflected in the polish of the neighboring car. Among them, there are always oddities to be found - for example a Beetle with skis on its back (in the middle of late summer).
