The British Classic Car Meetings (BCCM) St. Moritz will take place from July 8 to 10, 2016. Preparations for this elegant highlight for fans of classic cars from Great Britain are already in full swing. The 23rd BCCM St. Moritz is just over three months away. Time to take a look at the field of participants, which once again features many gems of British automotive history.
Experience classics up close
The BCCM St. Moritz combines elegance and class in the breathtaking Engadine Alps. Every July since 1994, around 200 classic cars from Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin & Lagonda, Jaguar & Daimler, Austin-Healey & Healey meet in St. Moritz for a drive.
This year, for example, an Aston Martin DB5 is at the start. This model is probably the most famous James Bond car and made its appearance in the films Goldfinger (1964) and Thunderball (1965). Two Rolls-Royce Phantom I from 1925 and 1928 will also be taking part in the meeting. The Rolls-Royce Phantom was always regarded as Rolls-Royce's top model. A total of twenty pre-war vehicles (1918 to 1937) were entered, including three Bentley 4 ½ Litre models. This model was internationally successful with victories on the world's most important racetracks. In addition to an impressive field of historic XKs and E-types, Jaguar is presenting its latest F-type Project 7 and SVR sports cars this year. And last but not least, spectators can look forward to an original, rare Healey Silverstone from 1949 and three Austin Healey 100S from 1955.
Spectators at the 23rd BCCM St. Moritz 2016 will have numerous opportunities to marvel at the participating classic cars up close. The registration in St. Moritz Bad on Friday, July 8, for example, is ideal for this. From 1 p.m., all the vehicles will arrive at the Plazza dal Rosatsch, where they can be experienced first-hand.
Climate-neutral BCCM
The BCCM St. Moritz is now climate-neutral. The "climatepilot" climate vignette guarantees that the event's financial contribution will offset and compensate 100 per cent of the CO2 emissions caused by the BCCM 2016 via an internationally recognized climate protection project. This makes the BCCM St. Moritz one of the first classic car events in Switzerland to be climate-neutral.
Rally ride and audience prize to be won
As in previous years, the traditional rally will be held on the Saturday of the 23rd BCCM St. Moritz. In 2016, it will lead from St. Moritz over the Ofen Pass to the Vinschgau Valley and over the Reschen Pass back to the Engadin. This means that three countries - Switzerland, Italy and Austria - will be covered. The start is from 8 am in front of the Badrutt's Palace Hotel, with arrival in the village center of St. Moritz planned for around 3.15 pm. The exact route can be found on the website under "Roadbook".
A carpooling opportunity will be raffled off among the rally spectators on Saturday immediately before the start. Those interested should arrive at the rally start at Badrutt's Palace Hotel before 8 am. All spectators will also have the opportunity to win a public prize donated by the main sponsor Jaguar and the BCCM. The best three pictures posted on Instagram or Facebook during the three days of the event with the hashtag #bccmstmoritz will be awarded a prize.
Concours d'Elégance as the highlight
The real highlight of the meeting is the popular Concours d'Elégance in the center of St. Moritz on Sunday, July 10. Several thousand spectators will not want to miss this beauty contest and award ceremony on Via Serlas, where a selected jury will award prizes to the most beautiful vehicles. The vehicles are on display from 10.30 am to around 2 pm. A fashion prize will also be awarded this summer: This will be won by the "best dressed team" among the BCCM participants who create the most beautiful overall visual image with their vehicle.
Further information can be found on the event website.
