Jaguar XJ 12 HE Vanden Plas 1983
Finest British driving experience with adequate motorization
This car is a great pleasure to drive! Extremely comfortable to drive, reliable and long-distance capable, etc.
In my opinion, the perfect color combination matches the uniquely elegant design of this noble Brit.
HE stands for High Efficiency - in other words, the 12-cylinder engine with the legendary cylinder heads with "fireball" combustion chambers developed by Swiss engineer Michael May. Despite 295 hp (at that time the power was still given in horsepower ;-) - the consumption could be reduced. - and yes, this is quite reasonable for such a vehicle (with a reasonably sensible driving style)... but it should also be fun.
The car is well maintained, has no rust and, apart from the cruise control, everything works perfectly - even the air conditioning! Unfortunately, the wood veneer on the dashboard is not perfect, which is why the car has not yet received its veteran's registration.
In order to strengthen Jaguar's position against the "adopted" Daimler brand, no Daimler vehicles were produced for a few years. The Jaguar XJ 12 Vanden Plas corresponds to the later Daimler Double Six in terms of top equipment. (Genuine leather also on the armrests in the doors, wood trim with a fine inlay, individual seats in the rear, higher quality carpets, also in the trunk, etc.).
The car cost a whopping 84,000 francs in 1983.
The car has been redeemed and is freshly checked. Seriously interested parties can of course take an extensive test drive, and a lifting platform is available for an inspection from below.
