Packard Eight - American Glory
The Packard is one of the most famous classic cars in the United States. The brand would have been 125 years old in 2024. Packard built prestige cars that offered their occupants a high level of driving comfort. The Standard Eight Type 902 was a good example of this. The author was able to test drive the car in the early seventies.
There would probably be little more to say today about just over a hundred Packard models with a special design if they had not been designed by Howard Darrin. Darrin is considered one of the most influential designers in the USA. His creations were driven by the most famous actors, his shapes shaped entire vehicle brands. This vehicle report portrays one of 35 Packard One Eighty Darrin Convertible Victoria built in 1941 and tells the adventurous story behind it.
Packard was once one of the most famous and sought-after car brands in the United States. Innovation and elegant styling made Packard something special. The Packard Hawk appeared in October 1957 and heralded the end of this famous car brand. However, with nearly 280 horsepower and a supercharged engine, it was a match for the European sports cars.
